Brotherly Love - Great Scott Fowler column on Ron & Mickey Rivera

I hope this is ok to post here in the main forum.  It's got nothing to do with football, but it is directly Panthers-related as it concerns their head coach.

Must read column by Scott Fowler in today's Observer about Ron and his relationship with his brother Mickey.

Brotherly Love:  http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/scott-fowler/article31221926.html

There's also a related article:  Seven Things You Might Not Know about Ron Rivera:  http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/scott-fowler/article31228559.html

Scott's column is really well written and a great tribute to their family.  One paragraph jumped out at me:

“I said this at his eulogy,” Rivera said, settling back into a couch at Wofford College during a break from training camp. “Mickey was so selfless. He always worried about everybody else. I asked him once, ‘How are you doing? It must be tough.’ And he said, ‘I really just hope people don’t feel sorry for me. Ron, when I go get my chemotherapy, I see young kids in there, and I know some of them don’t have a future. Some of them will never get to live a life like I have. I’ve lived a good life.’”

It made me think of Braylon Beam and how the team treated him during Fan Fest, and of how the team is so dedicated to so many other Make-A-Wish kids.  I imagine Mickey's words to Ron have only increased that motivation to support such kids.

I'll close with this really nice Twitter exchange on Panthers.com the past few days:

Panthers posted a poll asking fans to vote on their favorite Panthers "dynamic duo"  Cam & KB or TD & Luke.  (Cam & KB are ahead by 13 votes)

But someone in the Panthers Community Outreach office had a different favorite Dynamic Duo:

Makes me so proud to be a Panthers fan.

May God continue to strengthen & comfort the entire Rivera clan in their loss.
