Film breakdown of Larry Fitzgerald v. Green Bay

Pretty good film study of Fitzgerald's game against GB.

His two biggest plays were a Go route, lined up wide right in the 3rd quarter against man coverage and no safety help. Good coverage but a great throw by Palmer.

2nd big play was obviously the play in OT.   Whether it was zone or man, the defense had a huge breakdown to allow him to be wide open 25 yards down the field.  Poor pursuit angles led to the additional 60 YAC.

My biggest takeaway is the route pattern.  9/13 routes are less than 15 yards when the ball is thrown.  In my mind, short & intermediate routes allow for help from our LBs (who are both excellent in coverage).

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
