Final Draft Mock & Depth Chart Predictions

So we have worked out all these receivers, not to draft a single one?

And Olsen is retiring soon, says who? How can Dickson be a disappointment, if he hardly gets any snaps and has been the same player since he's been drafted.

Every mock draft I've seen has Henry going in the 2nd round, when did he become a first round talent?

I think a lot of it is position scarcity.  I think Henry is a fine player but I'm not sure how much better of a player he is than Maxx Williams, who was the first tight end off the board last year (he went in the late second round, late 50s I believe).

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/61852/325/consensus-big-board-40

Rotoworld has a "consensus big board" which pulls together rankings from Kiper, Brooks, Jeremiah, and Josh Norris - and Hunter Henry isn't rated as a top 32 pick on any of the boards.

Doug Farrar is also doing a writeup on each of his top 50 players and Henry hasn't yet appeared (they are counting up and have made it to No. 10).

For reference, guys that are regularly discussed on this board are ranked as follows by these media types:

Hunter Henry:  Consensus - NR, Farrar - NR

Derrick Henry:  Consensus - #30, Farrar - #24

Sterling Shepard:  Consensus - NR (one writer ranked at #26), Farrar - #35

Su'a Cravens:  Consensus - NR, Farrar - #21

Shaq Lawson:  Consensus - #14, Farrar - #15

Kevin Dodd:  Consensus - NR, Farrar - NR

Emmanuel Ogbah:  Consensus - #37 (two top 32 ranks), Farrar - #42

The huge caveat of course is that Gettleman's rankings matter much more - and are probably much more accurate - than the media's.  Igo says DG has Hunter Henry rated as a first round pick and I don't doubt that.  Funchess as a first rounder certainly wasn't something we saw in the media headed into last year's draft.

I think it is very possible that we can end up grabbing two players we have rated as first round picks - especially if a trade up is involved like last year.  I don't think it's out of the question that Hunter Henry could be the second of those picks in the mid to late second round.

    • At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability.  But there is still a lot of football to play.  I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
    • I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time.  I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance.  Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins.  And that’s IF he even plays.  I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return.  I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
    • Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
