Anyone Else Think About the Coaching Lately?

So I've been thinking lately:

Why is our defense so much worse than last year?

Of course, two major things come to mind:

1 - New Scheme

2 - Kemo

Now, we have enough DTs to fill a garbage truck, but none of them are really anything special. What is needed is a 6-5, 350 lbs fatass to fill that damn hole. We have a few guys that can do that on the roster. So, that shouldn't be as much of a problem tomorrow as everyone has been saying.

As for the new scheme, these boys have been practicing this new scheme for several months now. You'd think they'd have it by now. They'll have it down in a few weeks, so don't worry.

I was thinking, perhaps the reason the defense is doing so badly in comparison to last season is the coaching.

Am I right? If not, please correct me.

Please discuss: The coaching staff, and any problems they have been bringing to the team.

Can't really judge anything the defense did last week. They were playing with their backs on the goal line. If anything I was impressed by a couple of the stops they were able to make, especially on runs on the middle. They just lost containment a few times. Let's see what they do this week before saying they are worse.

    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
