Wasted Timeouts

All 3 timeouts in the first half were wasted because we couldn't snap the ball quickly enough. Luckily that didn't hurt us, but it easily could have. However, it happened again in the 2nd half once in addition to the timeout we used with the challenge, which was a waste because Rivera should have thrown it earlier. If we have 2 timeouts to begin the last drive instead of 1 (which was wasted) we can stop the clock and have a great chance to setup a shorter field goal for Gano.

Looks like we had the same thread idea.  I'll just move my post here.

Who's to blame for that lousy clock management?  Was it just Shula taking forever to make the playcalls?   Cam forgetting how to read the playclock after all those headshots?  Or was it something else?  We were forced to kick a 50-yard FG for the win because we gave up our last timeout for no reason.  Did we hire Andy Reid to manage our clock?  What's the deal?

1st half has nothing to do with it we was up... They cheated us in 2nd half shouldn't even have had to call the timeout in the 2nd sanders was SHORT!

Poor Clock Management has been a staple for this team since Rivera got here. Not a dig at the 2x COTY, but it's really fuging bad. Hearing Collinsworth hammer in just how bad it is was outright embarrassing for this team.

Literally couldn't look at the tube when we called that T.O in the 4th.

    • Night and day difference in the front office investements.  Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players.  The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive.  That IMO is why our D sucks so bad.   You build defenses up front.   Carolina hasn't been investing there.  Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players.  Expand it all to include second rounders  7 of the 10 picks were defensive.  All front 7 players.
    • I think he gets this year to show what he can do.  Last year, we had a lot of injuries. This year, we should have some players, even if we lose one or two.  It's the first preseason game.  Some of the starters weren't even in it.  There is no scheming or game planning.  Let's see how guys do when it counts. I think we have a GM that knows a thing or two about defense.  Let it play out.
    • I was ok with the mentor aspect of keeping Dalton, but wow has he fallen off the deep end. The slow behind the WR interception was awful. I keep hearing our WRs created no separation, but on that particular play dude was wide open and Dalton couldn't get it to him with a clean pocket. Next year, we need to address the backup QB spot haaaaaard!
