Cowboys are actually going to play romo

Above average if he has an elite offensive line and run game, how many teams can say they'd be plugging Dak into that situation - how would he look with a middle of the pack offensive line and middle of the pack run game ?

Conjecture, of course, but even if he's just an average QB under those circumstances (and as a rookie, he's a pretty good bet to improve rapidly), he's still the best performance per dollar in the league by a considerable margin. That makes building a stacked team around him easy and thus makes him a ridiculously valuable asset in a league where 22 QBs (and thus some below average) make >15mm per year.

It's a common misconception .. (he's a rookie, good bet he will even get better from here) no ... much of the time, rookie seasons are the best you see of some players

How it that a 'common misperception?' It's definitely true on average, especially so for QBs.

I mean just think about it; of the starting QBs currently in the league, your 'much of the time' rookie peak applies basically only to RG3. And that's not my main point anyways. Getting a starting QB for 600k per year is a massive advantage in terms of roster building.

i hope:

1. jerry starts romo in the divisional playoffs

2. cowboys lose spectacularly

3. dak prescott asks for a trade

4. buffalo gets him for a third rounder lol

I have a strange feeling we haven't seen the last of Romo as a Dallas Cowboy. Whether that's a playoff appearance in the coming weeks, or as (highly-paid) insurance for a severe Dak sophomore slump, I'm not sure.

My bet is Romo with the Broncos next year. Most logical choice. They both have their best chance to win a superbowl if Romo goes there. Plus theres a clone of Dez Byrant over there and E Sanders.

That is the perfect scenario, rematch against the Panthers, say what!

No way we are losing.

    • The off season should be eventful, it was painfully obvious we need a 2C and a 1RHD The Canes have cap room and draft capital id be on the lookout for not just free agent signings but also trade moves..... Im actually leaning towards them addressing more via trade in the off season than free agency.
    • I agree with this. Florida is going to be tough to beat. But they can’t keep that group together much longer so the hurricanes window might open a little wider.  My problem is the series should have looked the way it did in games 4 and 5. From the second period of game 1 thru 3 were an abysmal effort and the players just looked defeated. I was very disappointed in the overall effort until games 4 and 5. I think it’s very fair to ask if Rod is the right man for the job right now. If they’d gotten swept again and they lost game 4 like 5-0, id say he might need to go. But I think the team bounced back enough to give him another year with the front office going all in to bolster the roster. Failure to reach the finals with a full push to build the roster to win now, Rod goes next offseason, and the team focuses on retooling around their younger players.
    • Look very carefully at the jersey numbers and let it sink in.
