Because we have a CODE RED at safety and as recently as one year ago this guy was ranked as the 13th best strong safety based on a formula that makes as much sense as any for rating strong safety play.  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2623986-br-nfl-1000-ranking-the-top-35-strong-safeties-from-2015

Matt Kalil has sucked for longer and we paid him far more at a more critical position.  Justifying that and not Pryor makes no sense to me.

How can you say we have a code red at safety when we have two pro bowl starters and an up and coming young player in Dean Marlowe who the coaches like a lot? Sure we could probably use another quality back up but that's about it. There is no reason for people to be too worried about safety or TE, IMO.

No we don't.  At least Kalil had one good season and we do have a code red at T.

Wow.  Really?  No one wanted Mike Adams.  He admitted as such.  And he's 36, so only God knows what that makes him in dog strong safety years.  Pryor was PFF all rookie (two years after Kalil had his one and only good season) and the highlight video that's been posted repeatedly shows him making plays against OBJ, Dez, Gronk, Witten, Watt, and others.

After the 36 year old that the other 31 didn't want we have nothing.

Up and coming young FREE SAFETY in what setting and according to whom?  Bersin was also puffed up as an up and comer at WR in the not too distant past.  Expecting more than that is likely asking too much.  Let's get real.

Bersin also produced when he played. We're never going to be two deep with pro bowlers at every single position. Having said that, if the Jets cut this guy and the Panthers have a chance to bring him in, I'm all for it. I just think people get too hyped up about some of these players because they liked them in the draft a couple of years ago.

Bersin is a joke, and obviously wouldn't have a helmet for any of the other 31.  Bersin and his magic act of keeping a helmet for so long also represent the MANY OTA/Wofford warriors that created buzz and false hope with no tangible benefits over the years.  Marlowe's odds of overcoming are long.  Much longer than a bonafide 1st round pick from a dysfunctional organization which is currently the worst in football, that is still only 24 years old.

You can hate on Bersin if you want, but he has produced when he got on the field and he has found a way to stick around for this long. He will probably be gone this year, but that does not diminish what he has accomplished as an undrafted guy from a small school. It simply means that we have one hell of a competition at WR this year.
