At this point I would have preferred the Dog Killer....

Im with you Charlottean. And believe it or not, most of Charlotte is too. 9 out of 10 Charlotteans would take Mike Vick over Jake Delhomme any day of the week. Even if he played just as bad he'd sell ten times as many jerseys and would give us more national attention. Unfortunately the Panthers would rather bring Ryan Leaf out of retirement than give a black QB a shot.

Most people act like they are so ethically responsible and that by somehow if we shunned a talent like Vick that we would be sending a statement just like the other 30 teams who passed on him. The only statement this FO has sent is that they are stubborn and retarded for sticking with a washed up / never was QB who is leading a team loaded with talent and prowbowls into a spiraling demise.

True story. More people in Charlotte hate Jake Delhomme than they do Mike Vick. Ive heard more people tell me Jake Delhomme is the reason they are NOT Panther fans and would rather root for Cowgirls/Falcons/Broncos etc because of it than Ive heard people that would disown the Panthers if they brought in Mike Vick. The Vick haters on this board are a very vocal minority. Most NFL fans want to win more than they care about fake moral crusades.

If you think Vick is talented then maybe you should start your own league. I CAN"T BELIEVE WE ARE HAVING THIS 2005 CONVERSATION IN 2009!!!!!

KT I knew you had a hard-on for black QBs but c'mon dude, VICK SUCKS! He couldn't throw an accurate 15+ yard pass to save his career. Hey remember his #1 guy, that dude Crumpler? Where is he now that he has a good throwing QB. There's a good reason for that and it ain't that Crumpler sucks either. It's because that QB can throw further than 15+ yards.

P.S. Those "fans" you speak of aren't fans, they are flavor-of-the-month types.

Delhomme can't pass nor can he run.... Vick in his present state may not be able to pass, but he can certainly run. Vick has something to prove, Delhomme is thinking about his thoroughbred career. As of now Vick would offer this team more than Delhomme can.

Not much good running when everyone knows you're gonna do it. That's how everyone in the league will look at Vick when he plays. He doesn't fool anyone any more.

Mike Vick > anyone that plays QB on the Panthers roster right now

Vick threw 20 TDs and ran for 1,000 yards his last full season as a starter. Jake Delhomme might not throw 10 TDs this season. LMAO. The Panthers have one of the worst QB histories in the league!!! Which makes it that much more blatant that they dont look at or want a black QB. If we had a history of quality QBs like an Aaron Rodgers or a Rich Gannon you wouldnt hear a peep from me. But we dont. Like I said, the front office is more concerned about marketing and not pissing off the far right wing segment of the fanbase than they are about putting the best talent behind center.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
