Curious what Coordinators do with new toys

is anyone else?

This is Davidsons 3 rd year in the position. Has new qb(qbs), still has Double Trouble, Good Oline-hopefully great- would like to see Duke added, decent TE trio, King for blocking, Rosario has shown promise as pass catcher and has even played Fb some,, Barnridge shows real promise, Fiametta with a year under his belt, and the secret weapon now, Armanti Edwards equals slot? Wildcat? passes from wr position? The possibilities of plays for Davidson is endless. I know wr is a ? mark but Steve still has it and should get his wish to play slot more, Lafell-who knows but he is big and can block his azz off, should catch a few balls, and I may be in the minority but with Moore at the helm I think Dwayne Jarrett still has great potential. I have seen the kid make some awesome catches and hold on to the ball. If he was as crappy as everyone says and such a bust he would not still be on this team. Fox and Hurney have always been loyal to vets but never to young guys and teh fact that he is still here shows they still think he can produce.

Meeks is in his 2nd full year and is now in the process of tweaking the Defense with players that fit his system. The guy DT/DE they signed from Indy, a starting Charles Johnson, Everrette Brown, and now Lb or I believe DE for Meeks system-Eric Norwood from the gamecocks. We still have our full secondary in tact. If Davis recovers 100% we still have an awesome LB core, but faster now with Connor and Anderson.

So while I hated losing Pep, I am concerned about DE/DT and WR like everyone else, if Moore hopefully, and if not him Claussen, can be a stud Qb I do not think we are doomed to a losing season like I have heard so many say and we have set ourselves up to be a viable contender in years to come, only have to replace old guys hre and there like eventually finding a replacement for Smitty.

    • Bingo. The dude is a baller no doubt and I'd love to have him in a vacuum but like you said he's gonna fetch a haul so the only teams it really makes sense for are teams with an overall good roster who they feel an edge rusher like Crosby would out them over the top in terms of competing for SBs. I'd be looking st teams like the Pats, Bucs, Ravens, Seahawks, etc. It wouldn't be shocking to see him moved. He may be more valuable to a rebuilding team in the form of the draft assets he'd fetch than he is on the field. He should still have several more good years in the tank at 28 but by the time the Raiders can reasonably expect to rebuild he's gonna be on the decline.
    • Crosby will garner a haul in a trade. I would be reluctant to make that trade because of the following: 1. Our overall roster is awful. We cannot afford to be trading away valuable draft capital. 2. He isn't the best fit(IMO) for the scheme that Evero runs.  I love the player but it would really need to be at a reasonable deal and I think he is likely to garner an unreasonable price if he gets traded.
    • In terms of need, EDGE is currently #1. Our pass rush is near league worst levels. However, I don't subscribe to "need" based drafting. BPA all day.  We do need to dramatically upgrade over Scourton, Jones, Wonnum and Umanmielen. That is likely in the running for the NFL's worst two deep. Not saying all those players are bad, but I am saying 100% of those players are 2nd or 3rd stringers.
