I know this is :beatdeadhorse5: but....

Lets lets look at it this way. We start out season we play it out where ever it may lead.. superbowl wink wink. Then comes the 2011 offseason and we truly just don't have football that year and beyond. It would be like the great depression of football. Teams would have no stars and not even a full roster for that matter if it goes on long enough.

but then bam here comes the panthers loaded with young players and tons of cash.

now thats a story full of win

of course all these moves are great for the long run. the problem is the fan base wants immediate success(can't really blame them for that.)

what those people don't understand is that even with all these cuts the team is still very talented and will be a competitor. every player they cut is/was expendable, and had a capable guy sitting in the background ready to take the reigns(with the exception of fullback, but it looks like they're trying to fix that.)

I think when the CBA is figured out and the lockout drama is finished, we'll be in better shape than the majority of the league.

People seem to underestimate the talent of the young players we currently have... I'm by no means convinced this is a throw away season... Our offense should be pretty dangerous... Defense is the question mark, but I think it'll surprise some... I don't believe we're finished filling out the roster either... No, I don't believe we'll bring in high priced FA's that have been cut, but I think we'll do fine...

And this time next year, when our young FA's are wanting a truckload of cash, everyone will be thankful we're able to keep them around with all that money we have under the cap...

I believe there is a method to the madness as well.

Like any gamble there is a high risk to reward ratio...if it works we may have exactly as you decribe. Overall, I think we are still in better shape than going into last year (except maybe DTs, DEs, & SS).

Summary of where we are as a team

OFFENSE: We have a much better QB situation than last year; RBs are awesome; WRs significantly better chance to be improved; TEs have developed a year; OL still solid (lacking depth tho)

DEFENSE: DTs unproven; DEs unproven; LBs likely better, even tho I liked Diggs; CBs more true depth (I feel Marshall will be with us); FS same; SS (not sure who this will be, but will likely be more athletic than Harris was & better in pass coverage)

SPECIAL TEAMS: Ryne Robinson vs. Armanti Edwards?! Nuff said. Plus we signed about 2 millions ST players at the end of last eseason & this off-season
