Damned radiator and condensor fan motors are out on my Honda

Before you start buying a bunch of parts find out what is wrong. See if you can straight wire the fan motors to get them to run then work back to find out why they are not getting power. As hot as it is just let them run all the time (when the engine is running)until you get time to actually fix it. Chances are that you have a bad temp sensor .

Yep...will check that out. It may be that the Honda dealership changes the fans and sensors all-in-one to remove any doubt what may be causing it. Like I said...I have a 3rd vehicle and can play with this.

Took the easier of the two fans off last night. Lunch today me and a bud direct wired them to the battery and checked it. It turned. Sooo...I'm going to do my hotwire setup tonight on the other. If it turns, I'm then looking at a bad temp sensor...assuming the A/C fan isn't dependent on the engine fan running first.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will know more later.

yeah, radiators aren't terribly expensive new nowadays, especially for a mass produced car like a Honda.... i haven't paid more than $150 for a radiator in years at my car lot, but doesn't sound like you need one.

Unless it's a newer Honda, no need to take it to the dealer, with as many of them on the road as there are, too many other guys can work on them much cheaper.

All fixed.

Like I said...buddy and I short wired one and it turned. Got home and hotwired the other and it didn't turn. Went to O'Reillys, bought a $45 dollar fan motor. By 10pm and being anal about putting everything together and went ahead and replaced the hoses, I was up and operational and took the car out and the fan was running later. Will test in the extreme RTP traffic this evening.

Burlington Honda estimate $600 dollars...

New fan motor $45 dollars and $15 dollar hose, plus the $45 diagnosis fee Burlington Honda charged me.

Looks like I'll stick with using dealerships only for oil change deals and emergencies. But damn...
