Jimmy Clausen Press Conference. I feel bad for this kid. Jimmy stop this now.

He does not look like himself on that podium. This kid was so not ready to start yesterday. Fox is a bastard. He managed to take two guys that had promise and pretty much destroyed one's career while endangering another's. Fox threw him to the wolves.

Hey Jimmy, here's a couple of tips.

First, I know you have been criticized for putting your foot in your mouth, with me being one of those folks that thinks so but for crying out loud.......loosen up man! I'd rather have a punk or brat with confidence than someone's who "too afraid" to say the wrong thing.

At one point(1 minutes:19 seconds) you said:

"I'm going to listen to what he[smith] has to say and .....you know try to ...whatever he's saying.....you know.....do that....you know.....whatever it may be."

You were going to do whatever Steve Smith wanted? Yeah you do..;).....but.... DON'T SAY THAT ON TV! You are the QB! Smith doesn't RUN this team. Poor Guy. He's behaving with the wrong attitude of acting out of not wanting to make a mistake. STOP IT! GO MAKE SOME MISTAKES!

And second, well it's the same as the first. LET GO! Play then worry about the backlash. Try to not say anything stupid, but don't let that trying stop you from just being yourself.

I have a feeling this could have affected his head a little bit yesterday if he's playing and practicing with that mentality. It's so obvious he needs time to mature, not just as a QB but as a man.

PFFL - I watched this clip a few times and to be honest I did not interpret this the way you did. If anything I think his responses to the questions seemed appropriate for his first start. I do not agree with your statement of

destroyed one's career while endangering another's
Clausen is a rookie in his first start what did you expect was going to happen?

As for the

At one point(1 minutes:19 seconds)
I think you are taking his words out of context. After listening to it a few times, in no way is he making it appear he is only going to do what Smith says. I believe his statement was more about his working with Smith more one on one rather than "Hey, Smith tell me what to do for the entire game." as you imply.

You're so freaking blind dude, you can't even tell when someone's arguing for your side, you know that?

PS. Then again you also think 0 TD is BETTER than 1 and a 53.5 rating is better than a 60.7 so why do I even bother responding to such a mental midget.

How the hell is that an argument for my side. We are clearly on 2 different sides here as I say Clawesome should start and you're against it because he quote "hasn't earned the title". How the hell could a rookie earn his 1st NFL start but from what they accomplished in college, preseason and everyday practices?

....or replacing a sub-par performing starting QB in the 4th quarter. lol

Since when do stats always prove who is better especially after one game. A blind man see Clawesome played better than Moore regardless of stats.

Remember Delhomme having the highest passer rating ever in the Playoffs? Yeah, cause he was so much better than Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, John Elway, Joe Montana, Troy Aikman, etc.

I'm not talking about his performance. I'm talking about Fox taking Matt out too soon, putting Jimmy in too soon, and now not even confidently answering the question who is your starter next week....with Jimmy...when he should have.

Playing musical chairs with our QB's like this hurts both of them and makes them both look inadequate.

And again, my point is I think he's being too cautios and I feel bad for him. He's afraid of saying the wrong thing.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought he said the right things, took the blame for the mistakes, and seemed like normal Jimmy. Of course he's going to seem down, because he just lost. If he was up there smiling, laughing, telling jokes, and was brushing it off, THEN I would be worried.

Ok man you are officially an idiot if that's what you got out of everything I said.

Let me break it down for you cause you have some serious reading comprehension issues.

I was against Matt getting benched too soon.

I am ALL FOR Jimmy remaning our starter now that he started because I believe it to be a bad thing when you start having a revolving door at QB.

I am against Jimmy earning the title "Future of our Franchise". He has not earned that. He has not done anything or shown me anything to back that up yet. And he also didn't do anything to take Moore's job away from him because he showed he was a better QB. It was given to him because Matt played bad.

You're right. A blind man would get away with saying Jimmy played better yesterday than Matt did last week. And ONLY a blind man. It takes something a lot worse than a blind man though, to take important facts such as touchdowns, or lack of, QB ratings, and YPP and throw them out the window when they don't work in your favor or completely refuse to see which one is better than the other.

If you are that "good" at "reading" people then you'll be bigger than Dr. Phil!!

Your right a blind man would get away with saying Jimmy played better yesterday than Matt did last week. And ONLY a blind man.

Only a dumb ass would say he didn't. Only the dumbest of asses.

I was against Matt getting benched too soon.

People usually get benched when they suck.

Jimmy did seem to handle the press conference in the appropriate way. I for one thought he showed great leadership with taking the blame (maybe his fault or not) for all the miscues. I was not really a Clausen fan before today. However after re-watching the game, I do notice a few areas Clausen brings to this team that Moore was (for what ever reason) unable to execute.

I respectfully disagree with

Fox taking Matt out too soon, putting Jimmy in too soon
Moore did not appear to have the same control as he did after Delhomme was hurt and Matt received his chance.

As for this

he's being too cautious and I feel bad for him. He's afraid of saying the wrong thing.
Ask yourself this. Do you think Jimmy is playing more cautious than Moore? I do not think this is accurate, if anything Clausen seemed willing to take a few chances. You may say he "dumped it off" but if you review the game again you will see that was his only options during those plays.

Red I disagree.

Blue you are correct

When Fox said that it was too early to name the starter at QB for next week, I just wrote that off as him being Fox-esque. Not letting the team know who to look at on tape Monday, and making sure they don't know which guy to gameplan against. And then, Fox is going to announce it's Jimmy, etc, and then the consistency starts to build.
