I can't help but agree with Jerry Richardson and the owners are yesterday.

*supposed to be "after yesterday"

Yeah we lost. And yes great teams win consistently.

But we have been a bad team that's been playing bad. A young team. An inexperienced team. A team with a rookie QB. A team still trying to get into a rythm. A team making plenty mistakes.

And despite all that we led the Superbowl Champions yesterday. Despite those facts, had a legitimate shot of winning that game. Despite the facts our rookie QB had less impressive stats he made the bigger play yesterday against one of the masters.

If a team with all those problems can have a legitimate shot at beating the Champs, why again do we need to spend millions and millions on huge player contracts, free agency to get a marginally better result?

Sure 50 million spent in the offseason probably would have made the difference and gotten us the extra 3 points we needed to beat the Saints yesterday. But you know what? So would have another 5 minutes of gameplay if we could have gotten the ball back one more time, better game clock manangement, or another two weeks of improvement on this team. Or just a little bit more of a push!

This team has a legitimate shot of winning games against the best teams in this league on any given Sunday...and I don't think the answer between 14-16 and 17-16 is 50 million dollars in contracts and offseason aquisitions.

No I think those 3 points can be found just as easily, if not more effectively, in: practice, rythm, coaching, experience, growth, confidence, willpower and heart.

And those things are things JR has already paid for when he bought these guys. I can't help but feel that he's right. Despite that we were 0-3 these "scrubs" played hard for us yesterday and I felt they were genuine and had their head and heart in the right place. And THAT's something money CAN'T buy. Money can only borrow that for a couple of games or perhaps lease it during a contract year.

PS: Oh -on the record, about the record - I don't think Mr. Sam Bradford is playing 47 million dollars better than our Jimmy Clausen, and the Rams sure as hell don't show a 47 million dollar difference in their record compared to the Panthers record.

    • Everyone says AT was old and slow but the one thing he could do consistently was get separation. That takes skill and it's been a huge issue in our WR for years. And while Moore may be a great locker room guy and our WR coach may be a 12 year vet, he's not playing in the game. Vets like AT do what they do because they can see things others don't and exploit it. The DB interview I mentioned before was with Stephon Gilmore after his DPOY season. He was pulling the younger DBs aside showing them things you wouldn't even think you'd be able to tell from the way the receiver was standing.  Seeing what a DB or LB is biting on in game that can give you that half step advantage is huge and we don't have that experience in our WR group right now and I think it could end up hurting us. None of our receivers have lined up against NFL corners successfully on a regular basis. Having someone that can walk over and give you a tip to get a half yard separation can be a difference maker.
    • We only fielded about 4 NFL calibre players on that unit last year.
    • only 1 QB in the history of mankind has managed a winning record with his opportunities in the David Tepper era.    Bring in PJ.   He has NFL tools.  He will at least be entertaining if called upon.  How is that not better than Andy.  *PJ Walker bandwagon is back up now that it is....not...time for for the percolator.
