Some Positive input (with pointing out improvement points)

Mostly all these threads are about bitching, moaning and groaning. Yes I know alot of us fans are upset. But let's try to focus on some positives despite all the negative things from yesterday.

The offense showed some good things such as moving the ball in the hurry up offense. At times the offensive line showed good protection. You could tell that the right side of the line struggles without Otah.

The running game was'nt too bad from what I saw from Stewart before it got thrown out the door. When the o-line did block correctly and were not bum rushed by guys in the box Stewart looked good on those runs.

The wide reciever play was not that bad. Seemed to block pretty well. Smith Made some nice plays (besides the fumble). Brandon showed some of what made him good in college. Gettis really was not in the picture. I noticed that he needs to improve on route adjustments.

Moore. Well he made some nice throws and then made some bad decisions. I feel when the pocket closes he does'nt always make the right choice and might be hoolding the ball too long. Maybe they should try the Bradford drill and blow a horn in practice at 3 seconds so he doesnt hold the ball and think about where to throw instead of getting rid of it and hitting a check down. I did notice on several plays where Smith was wide open he looked else where. He did a good job of getting the tight ends involved which I believe is good as some of those throws were for first downs. We obviously need to script better first drives and put Matt in a better position to make better choices.

Defensively we looked very solid at times and then there were times we did'nt. I thought the big turning point was when Smitty fumbled and we held them twice to 3rd and longs but allowed them to pick up the first down and score again. Feel the coverage needs to communicate better to each other when adjusting.

Special teams we're decent. We had a couple good returns. Sometimes the blocking could be alittle better.

Overall I thought we had a good chance coming into the game for a win, but was let down. Was'nt too excited about the trick plays that were thrown out there as Moore looked like Jake throwing the first pick yesterday. Thought he could of made a better throw or throw it away. I really hope that we can get Otah back, Williams back and see Devin Thomas on the field and atleast start showing life on offense instead of barely putting points on the board. These are just things I noticed yesterday and did'nt want to chime in on all the bitchy threads that are out there.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
