Hurney shouldn't be fired for two main reasons

Fiz,

Let's just agree that Jake, while one of my favorite players of all time, is at best an average starting QB in this league.

how about no

how about we don't agree on bullshit

how about we look at the situation with an ounce of fuging nuance

how about you don't try to bring me down to your idiotic level

how about you get out

My idiotic level, are you telling me that Jake Delhomme is the QB that you would hang your hat on if you were a GM?

Lets bring up some career numbers for Jake, not 3 years, and compare him to some others in the league.

I can look at the situation without getting mad at someone poking fun at my opinions. This is a football board, where fans can discuss opinions and thoughts, stop getting upset like a child.

finding a QB off the scrap heap that leads your team to the super bowl and nfc championship game and makes the pro bowl in a 3 year span is pretty impressive.

let's? as in you want me to? how about you construct an argument instead of saying "heh let's just agree here amiright please don't call me on this"

i went to effort in this thread. I actually constructed an argument. all you can do is nibble at the edges like one of those little fish that ride around on sharks all day and you act shocked when i bitch smack you like the irritating butt fly that you are.

Truths and opinions.

Their opinion is that we should keep Hurney, mine is that we need a breath of fresh air in the FO.

I am not saying that Hurney is the best GM, nor we worst, but has just been for a bit too long. Over his body of work, Hurney has been really good for the Panthers, but the last two drafts, and years of personnel choices have soured him, to me.

I appreciate the effort, I enjoyed reading the thread, I just happen to disagree with your opinion on why we should keep Hurney. That's it. You have your opinions, I have mine.

I have long said that our inability to draft/develop a great QB is what has kept us from winning on a consistent basis. We have been to a SB, but we have also had a roller coaster of a ride from season to season.

The first 5 years of Hurney were IMO very good, the last 2 have not been. You say keep him, I say let him sail away.

I like to think that thefuzz is compiling some massive effort post with stats and comparisons and such that i can actually respond to but he's probably just going to throw out some butt hurt hop-on-the-cross fest or "hey man it's just like my opinion" and never post in the thread again

    • Cards weren't really blitzing that much the entire game.  The ones they sent just wrecked Bryce.  My opinion is you are over fixated on what happened as we got close to the goal.   The one possession we had in the 3rd quarter? That was a freebie to get down there.  It was literally just checkdowns to the TE when we weren't running the ball down... 24 taking up the entire quarter.  Next quarter Cards were inviting the exact same behavior.  Which is why they were both clock eating small ball 14 play drives.
    • I don't think they changed as much as you think between the INT and the final sack (immediate pressure with 4 linemen). They definitely stopped blitzing as much, if a blitz means rushing more than the front 4/5. They definitely did some exotic packages where they sent LBs/DBs and dropped linemen into coverage though. The fumble and INT were both blitzes. And yes they were successful. And yes, I agreed with Bryce not taking care of the ball. Really not many answers on those plays - just take the sack and live another play (unless you're Lamar). Which he didn't do. And no, you can't run prevent on the goal line. What's prevent defense to you? Alignment, personnel, cushion, etc.? Just curious. My reply was to the post that they sat back in some soft zone the whole game - until the end, when it mattered. That's not true. They blitzed, they disguised coverages and blitzers, they pressed, they bailed, they covered the flats, all of that. Not trying to argue. Just trying to inform. Actually they only blitzed once on the final drive, and the DB got away with a bad hold on Tremayne. Otherwise looked like it would have been a completion for a first down. The Cardinals' final drive defense looked a lot like the rest of the game.  I know it's easy to get upset after a lose (I'm guilty), but Mondays are when cooler heads prevail. Right? Emotions can make us seem like we don't know what we're talking about. The Huddle isn't supposed to be that. I always saw it as a place to go discuss the Carolina Panthers with more than the casual fan, and their emotionally charged opinions. I can get that at the local grocery store, where they don't know anything about NC/SC, let alone the Panthers.
