QB even if Luck stays?

Pass on haynesworth - laying on the field cause you ain't happy ruined his esteem.

I'd take Mcnabb as a veteran mentor - as long as he knows coming in that he's the mentor/teacher/confidant and the team will belong to the QB we draft when he's ready.

Luck doesn't come out - I'd trade down and draft the available QB that fits us best. There are several QB's in the draft, if not Luck, then maybe the rest are equal in value - BUT NOT AT #1.

Trade down and pick up some extra picks for the new coach to fill out the holes.

Maybe we don't explode next year, but we begin the rebuilding process.

The only thing I hate about this logic is that you are willing to put up with another lousy season. If you think Clausen is your man then fine, skip a QB and hope he develops. If not, then go out there and try to find your franchise QB. Enough with the "next year" theories.

Risk/reward man. Getting it wrong with the 1st overall pick, especially on a QB is huge. I'm with this guy, the next season is a rebuilding season so the goal should be to get to 0.500 with legitimate signs of growth. If you truly like any of the other QB's, that's fine, but don't do it just because you need a QB.

Vince Young despite all his issues is a winner though, he wins games, was at near the top of the NFL in passing before his injury/rant.

I don't think the Panthers are THAT blind not to take a QB, especially with a whole new coaching staff.

You don't reach for a player when you are picking first. If the Panthers drafted Newton, Gabbert, Locker or Mallet at #1 it would be one of the biggest reaches in the first round in quite some time. You take the closest thing to a sure bet (Green or Peterson) and get a QB in FA or hope you have a good scouting department....
