Clayton Kershaw...

Definitely in first now.

Halladay outdueled by Lohse.

Lee outdueled by Ross Detwiler(lol)

and Kershaw defeats Lincecum and ends the Giants 8 game win streak last night allowing only 1 run and gets his 20th win.

I'm afraid the east coast bias is going to hand the award to Halladay, but as much as I like the guy, Kershaw is OBVIOUSLY the better pitcher this year.

NEW YORK (AP)—After struggling for much of the season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are cruising when it comes to postseason honors.

Clayton Kershaw(notes) won his first NL Cy Young Award on Thursday, adding to the Gold Glove he won as the Dodgers collected three fielding awards in one year for the first time.

“I always dreamed about playing in the big leagues. I never dreamed about doing anything special in the big leagues. I don’t think any kid ever does,”Kershaw said. “The people I’m now associated with, just by having this award, is something that I never thought would ever happen.”

Kershaw received 27 of 32 first-place votes and 207 points in voting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Easily the best pitcher in baseball.

Kershaw was named the most valuable player of the National League, becoming the first pitcher to win the award since Bob Gibson in 1968.

Kershaw became only the fourth NL pitcher to win both the MVP and Cy Young Award in the same season. The two other than Kershaw and Gibson to do it were both Dodgers: Sandy Koufax (1963) and Don Newcombe (1956).

Kershaw won his third Cy Young Award the previous day to equal Koufax's total.

22 continues to rack up awards in his young career.

Good guy too.

    • We definitely overpaid but as long as he's not lined up at NT he's been a starter level player which is a major step in the right direction compared to last year's D-line.  Because of his contract he'll definitely be here next year, but I fully expect him to be a cap casualty next offseason.  We'd save 15M in cap space if we cut him in 2027. I don't think he sees year 3 of his deal. I'd be open to keeping him around in 2027 but his deal would have to be reworked to a substantially lower number.
    • Getting left out in favor of less-deserving Alabama is an honor bestowed upon a new team every year. Miami should take pride in back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in decades. As long as this doesn't cripple their program like it did FSU, they should be able to go for another one next year.  And, being someone who also likes to see Miami do well but knows its penchant for horribly timed losses, there's a great chance they don't find a way to beat UVa or Duke last night regardless of the matchup on paper.
    • Truth be told, I just like a 4-3 defense better and I'll just jump in with any chance to make that statement. Seemed like an opportune moment.
