I have joined the Android club getting the LG Optimus S (one of the weaker Android phones). Got the phone free with the two year upgrade, but I have to pay 10$ more a month now. It was either that or get the Touch Pro 2 (WinMob 6.5 :() for 200$ and not pay 10$ more a month. I figure I'll just pay a little more.

Went ahead and rooted it and put a custom ROM on it (Reborn Rom). It's based off an LG Rom, so it's fully functional for the most part, just have to avoid any updates (which there haven't been any yet). With my unlimited data plan, I set up the wireless tether, but not sure how much I'll use that since wifi is everywhere and I have a fast home connection.

What APKs should I put on it? Went ahead and put all the banks, ebay, paypal, etc. Then I put this sweet APK called Aplanet which is basically like Installous on IOS. Got a QR Code reader as well.

Let me know if there's any other cool things I can do with the phone.

EDIT: I'll make a list of recommended apps in the thread:

Google Voice

In addition to the amazon app store, the amazon mp3 store will allow you to steam music directly from your amazon cloud drive instead of taking space up on your phone.

Also just a note, Plants vs. Zombies is supposed to make it's debute on Android in the next few days, a Amazon exclusive and free the first day.

Others I like using are HBO Go, Cardio Trainer, StumbleUpon, Yelp and Google Voice as my message system.

The Amazon App market gives away decent paid apps for free daily.

Yeah, I installed the Amazon App market which could not be found on the droid market interestingly enough. There is a cool app I found which is basically an alert for the Amazon daily free app.

SNesoid, Nesoid, Angry birds, Google Goggles,

Not sure how well emulators will work without controls. I have a couple DS's and a PSP for that kind of stuff. Angry Birds has already been installed and I'll check out 'Google Goggles'.

Does anyone know if there's an app to easily send pictures to an image hosting site? I know picasa is built in so I can send my pics there but I'd rather send it to one of the more common imagehosting sites like imgurl or imageshack.

Photobucket has an app that is suposed to do that I downloaded it today and havent tried it as of yet so I cant make any claims as to how it works.

The daily app today on Amazon is really fun. 'Yoo Ninja', check it out.

Yeah I know, I've played my fair share of that today. It can be frustrating, but addicting. The Amazon App Store is a must, I've got my Incredible full of cool games. Still waiting on Plants vs. Zombies to come out...they originally said by the end of this month so only a few days left.

I'd also say add a barcode scanner to your list, I use ShopSavvy but there are a few on there.

    • I enjoy being truthful. Although that means being unbiased. Which most on here are incapable of being unbiased.
    • It looks like the Bucks and Giannis are headed for a divorce. He says he's ready to play and the Bucks say that he has told them he isn't. It really doesn't matter except that it likely means the end for Giannis in Milwaukee. He's 31 years old, but still an elite producer.  So, as GM, would you go after him this offseason? Remember, the Hornets have two 1st round picks this year and potentially THREE first round picks next year. What would a trade look like?
    • I agree with you, if all things are equal--assuming we are on the same page as to what that means.  If a DT and OT are there at 19 and you have them equal, which do you take? The DT would be rotational and get 25 snaps a game or so, and the OT is probably a reserve for most of the season.  What if Walker plays out of his mind and Ickey comes back strong? To me, there are just too many variables at T and Morgan met the needs for 2 starters.  Nothing about that screams lets "go OT in round 1" to me. I could see an Edge or a DT at 19 before I see OT.  I could see a TE or S before an OT--and I (personally) would rather have an OT over DT, Edge, TE, or S--but I do not see the logic.  In fact, CB is a position that resembles OT--who do we have behind our starters and are we happy with Smith-Wade?  A CB would be on the field more than a reserve OT.  How is the Walker at LT situation different than the the Bryce situation? He is basically on a 1-year deal and if he is injured, Forsythe becomes Pickett.  Would you take Simpson in the draft?  Dont get me wrong--I usually agree with you  and I get your point.  I am an OL guru--but I just do not see this particular group of Tackles making us better than Walker.  In addition, I think we can address OT once the Ickey situation clears up.  Short arms, poor run blocking, issues with strength--I am simply not impressed with the OTs.  For clarity, "developmental" refers to players who are still a year or two away from starting.  We are all developmental, but there are prospects who need a season to transition to the pro game. I see 1--maybe 2 OTs who could step into a starting role right now. In college, for example, taking snaps under center requires a different approach than blocking for the shotgun.  There is less to learn if you play a position that does not require much adjustment to transition to the NFL.
