Great to hear, hopefully he locks up the starting job! He wasn't as bad as people think against the Dolphins, he came up like 1 yard short on a lot of third downs!!!! I expect better results!

And in no way is that the plan of the defense...

Guys guys guys, it's okay, Cam rushed for 7 on that third and ten. At least he got those 7 right?

Why are people acting surprised/mad that it looks like Cam will be the starter. It was about an 80% chance we knew this would happen when we drafted him.

Also he is not saying he didn't look good or wasn't up to expectations, some haters are just reaching. Hes just a rookie.

If that Ginger outplays Cam this place will explode.

This game will tell us a lot about where we are.

I fear we are one of the worst teams in the league again

You fear and I hate to say a fan wants the team to do bad, but if that makes cam look bad then you will be happy.

I really hope Cam pans out, then you can jump on the bandwagon and give bs excuses like...oh I really wanted him to be good I just didn't believe/ there wasn't enough proof, but you will come around eventually and make it look like deep down you always supported.

Why can't people just support the team. And there's a difference between analytical criticism and blind hate.

Funny, everyone before the draft said rookie QBs and rookie Head Coaches was the new recipe for success. They cited examples such as Ryan and Smith, Harbaugh and Flacco, Sanchez and Ryan, etc

Why was being a rookie QB an advantage to winning before Cam played and now it's a reason we shouldn't expect success?

Coaches see the raw talent in Newton. And his raw talent is comparable to Jimmy with one year in the NFL, IMO. If it would help Cam any with footwork, starting JC for the regular season isn't a bad idea. But looks like it is Cam.

I just wish they wouldn't have wasted a second round pick on Clausen last year when we could have focused on another need. Truly was not a good pick for Marty.

that has nothing to do with what I said. Being a rookie isn't an excuse. It just means he will make mistakes obviously, yet just because he was so great in college you hold him him to some uinrealistic standard that he will never be able to reach no matter how he plays. It is not an advantage to winning, its just our best option.

Expect mistakes and expect great plays this year, you will see plenty of both.

But keep hating.

:iagree:if u made it through the Dark TImes( Siefert Period) and are still here you are a true fan( still remember people jumping off when Siefert destroyed the team and back on 2 years later when we were in the Superbowl)

    • With Schoen and Dan Morgan being tight I’d figure we knew this was coming and since he is released, Dan didn’t bite.    But, a quick search says this is at least 80% cap related. They have No cap space and save 8 or 9 million with releasing him.  He has been a captain his entire time there. 145 tackles this year.  They are picking 5th with a new staff and looking at Styles. Hitting that age 30 season and had a disc issue last year (meaning 2024) that did not require surgery.  I haven’t really watched him play but he activated the antennae.
    • OK, we are letting our top RB go.  We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks.  Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB?  I am sure he'd be a special team player as well.  I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB. Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy): Navy running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.    Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance: 6'0" 200 lbs.   40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds. 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds. Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches. Broad Jump: 10' 0". Bench Press: 16 Reps. Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994). High character.  Smart.  Maybe, just maybe....
