A Little Perspective

I was actually pleased with the effort today, we just got gassed at the end.

Cam is pressing a little, he will have to learn that you can't force yourself to victory in the NFL, as much as he would like to. I was actually glad to see his demeanor had opened up a bit even after the loss, he really has to take some pressure off of himself. You only get one rookie season, with all of the builtin excuses and learning to be done, he should soak it in and develop first, worry about the wins second. Now, a big positive is that part of his regression is due to teams basically focusing solely on stopping him now, so he's being force-fed a doctorate in quarterbacking right now. As long as he continues to respond and improve over time, the game will slow down and he can revert to imposing his will.

We may have found a couple of good players, Keiser was making plays everywhere, Keohola gave us our first special teams highlight of the year, and all of our linebackers are gaining experience.

This has been a lost season since the Minnesota game, so there's nothing wrong with taking a long-term view about the players and how the team responds. I was very encouraged that after last week's shellacking they went into a much better team's house and opened strongly. The end was depressing, but frankly Detroit played like they needed the game more (which they did.)

We'll get back into the win column next week against Indy and continue to play spoiler this year. Cam will take his lumps against teams desperate for wins, but come out much better for it. The defense will get healthy, with the bonus of improved backup experience, and we'll get a high draft pick to boot.

Finally, if you're going to have a bad year, this is the year to do it. The veteran teams are all trying to catch Green Bay, and if by some miracle we made it to the playoffs we wouldn't have the talent to go anywhere.

It's still a great time to be a Panther fan, we are in the early stages of building an excellent team.

Your logic is not wanted here.

As a long time racer, its common knowledge that a rookie can't run on the jagged edge until he knows where that edge is.....Cam's mistakes stem from him trying to find that edge. I'm quite sure he has mumbled under his breathe, "Can't do that in the NFL" many times this season! A lot of you all see him costing us games, I see him learning how to make us a yearly contender

    • The only thing I know is nfl red zone.
    • We put a ton of high draft capital into young WRs over the past few years. We drafted a WR in top 2 rounds of the draft in 4 out of the past 5 years. At some point, we need to rely on the dudes we drafted vs relying on veteran role players. That's the only way we're going to evolve as a team and take the next step to going back to winning again.  Remember when Cam lost KB and everyone thought it was the end of the universe? And 2015 happened.  Maybe losing Theilen and Coker will open some opportunities for some other guys to step up.
    • So apparently in the time between the end of the last football season, and now, a TON of streaming sites have been taken down. From what I remember most of these idiotic offiicial streaming services that offer NFL games don't ever offer ALL of the games. I remember subscribing to one service on youtube last season that cost hundreds of dollars and it would still constantly tell me games were either blacked out or unavailable, which is totally ridiculous. Is there any one service that I can watch ALL of the games on?? It gets on my everlasting nerves already that there's so many different streaming sites and they are all expensive as hell. I don't want to take out an entire additional car payment to subscribe to 4 different streaming services to watch all the games. Is there just ONE I can subscribe to? The most comprehensive thing I have access to now is Sirius XM. It's only 10 ish bucks a month and I can listen to the home or away broadcasts of any game. Only thing is I can't WATCH the games but this seriously comes in handy if I'm out doing something, driving, or can't stay still at the moment to watch the games. But usually I'm off on Sundays, so I mostly want to watch them.
