My brother (in law) is a manager at TWC, and he says that for TWC it's a matter of principle. From what I understand, the NFL is trying to force the NFLN on all the tiers, thereby making everyone's bill go up, as opposed to just having it offered in an optional package for those that choose to pay for it. This dispute has been going on for years now. It's not like TWC needs the NFLN, or vice versa. Basically they are just two big, arrogant bullies fighting over money, but in the end, TWC has a right to run their business as they see fit. Both behemoths will have to compromise.

The only problem is all the other cable companies are now raking in money for people adding the sports tier for the NFL Redzone. Part of getting the NFLN means the cable company gets that channel as well. And most cable companies have the NFLN on their digital tier. So as long as you subscribe to it, you get the NFLN. TCW is losing that battle.

What happened to the old days when all the games were on major network TV? I bet the NFL would have an epiphany if they'd do an end-around the cable companies and provide more programming on network TV.

That's just TWC speak. They dont force NFLN on all the tiers on Dish Network for instance. You must subscribe to the Top 200 or better to get NFL Network.

Dish Family, Top 120, Top 120 Plus= no NFLN.

listen.

You will not get any ESPN games no matter who plays.

You will not get any NFLN games EXCEPT!!!when Carolina plays on Thursday night.....FOX or CBS will then air that same game. NFLN will air it on a channel you don't get......but FOX or CBS will ALSO air the game for you to watch. They will only do that if Carolina is playing.

This man is spot on.
