Just looking at the teams who might draft before us.

How many of them have the same need at the 4 and 5 position?

1. Wizards - have Nene, Oak, and Seriphan who they like.

2. Raptors - Barngiee Valancuines EDavis

3. Pistons - Monroe Durmmond

4. New Orleans - Davis Lopez

5. Cleveland - Zellers Varaigo and Tristan Thompson

6. Kings - Cousins , Trob,

Point is a big man might fall to us because a lot of these teams might not need one.

PS: I know some of their names are spelled so wrong. But in my defense this topic came from the top of my head and I didn't want to look that many names up.

I could see Washington, New Orleans, an Cleveland going big for sure.

Washington needs a wing player and a big. Nene can play either PF or C so I doubt he goes anywhere. Oak will be gone soon.

New Orleans needs a guard and could use another big, as AD isn't a C right now, and Lopez is average.

Cleveland needs a big and a wing player. Zeller is a good role player, and Andy is very injury prone. They do like Thompson at PF.

I agree but a lot of those teams either have paid a lot for a big man or drafted one highly in recent years.

Yeah, I mean a lot of it just depends on who emerges as the best of the best this year.

For example, if Poythress ends up having an amazing season and is projected to go into the top 3, or Shabazz lives up to the hype then I see Washington drafting one of those guys. If there is no wing player that is close to Zeller, Noel, Len, etc then Washington will go with a big. Just my assumptions on the matter.

We really only need a big or a 2-guard, depending on who is available and depending on how Hendo does this year. Definitely excited to see how this season goes in the NBA and in NCAAB.

You can throw need out the window when it comes to the NBA. Teams have proved time after time that they will almost always draft BPA.

Yeah I don't agree with that. There is no way Cleveland drafts a pg in the next few years no matter what pg falls to them. If this was true Lillard would be in Cleveland instead of Withers.

There are exceptions, yes, but generally it's BPA.

Remember when Chicago took Derrick Rose when it made all the sense in the world for them to take Beasley?

What????? Rose was the best player in that draft they didn't have a good PG and they already had Deng. So what are you talking about?

Why wouldn't a team like NO try add a Zeller or Noel to pair up with Davis?

Wizards will def add a big man also. So would the Cavs.

Let's see

NO just signed Lopez to a 3 year 15 mil contract and he's 24. Why would they add another big at that high of a pick?

The Wizards are paying Nene and Oak max contracts until 2014 and 2016. They also have Seraphin, Vessely and Booker until 2014. That's a lot of money in a front court.

Cavs just spent 2 high picks 2 years in a row on bigmen. Will they do it 3 years in a row I don't think so.

Let's see, Lopez is average.

Nene is injured and okafor is okafor.

Cavs, Thompson not living up to his talents and Zeller isn't even close to his brother.

I agree 100% and this is very very true...

If teams have 2 players rated equally then they will go for the player at postion of need.... But even before the NBA draft usually the top 5 is usually known no matter who the teams and needs are... In the NBA a lot of players turn out to be mediocre or role players... Players are often traded and moved around... So in the lottery if a team feels a player will be a long term difference maker they will draft them!!! I mean look how many PG's Minny took... Because it's only 5 [players on the court the NBA is all about talent and BPA (With the rare exception) See a potential star draft him...when he is ready to start the old vet is traded and moved on.

What was true about his statment. I don't remember it being close between Rose and Beasley. It was a lot of smokescreens but everybody knew the Bulls would take The home town kid and biggest need Rose.

Do you even remember the Bulls PG before Rose?

From my response this is what I agreed with

"There are exceptions, yes, but generally it's BPA."

I mean look how many rookies or young players actually stick in this league and contribute... We have people coming back from Europe and damn near 40 years old still starting... Teams are looking at players WAYYY more than addressing a specific need in the lottery.

    • Jalen Carter came into camp out of shape too. That was part of the reason he dropped considering he was thought of as the better defensive player pre-draft activities. It’s not a good sign when you don’t look great but it’s definitely premature.
    • We won 5 with the worst defense in the history of defenses.  I think free agency and our draft puts us over 6.5.
    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
