I think Stephen A. likes Cam but because of Skip he's afraid to express it. When I watch him debate Cam, if you look at his body language and eye movements you can tell he's being compelled not to come out and say "I love Cam and I don't care who knows it". I think there are many in the media who are just afraid to express their approval as it's not a popular idea. Kind of similar to how unpopular it is to express dislikes of Luck's game. I think the media is trying the great defense angle but in many games they realize that the offense is no slacks either. So, pretty much the media is scrambling to sell the panthers in a way that exclude Cam. Can't wait when Cam become a vet and understand the nuances of this business like Steve Smith then he can call out those assholes.

Nice analysis. I kinda got the feeling they were trying to exclude Cam as well.

They can keep trying but at the end of the day what's on the field is the only thing that matters. We all watch the same games they do. It's not like we're following this on the radio like the 50s. When people think of Carolina the first name that will always come to mind is Cam. No changing that.

I know a lot of you guys hate on espn and Stephen A. but I personally love the dude....he just named us and San Fran as the only 2 teams able to beat Seattle in Seattle...said our D and cams legs would be the determining factor and it would be similar to the Seahawks Atlanta game in the playoffs last year

I will admit he and Skip are a guilty pleasure. Give em' a topic and let em' go at it. They both can get overly dramatic at times. You do have to take it for what it is worth, pure entertainment. You gotta love em'.

By the time we get to the Championship Game, we will be ready. Doesn't matter who we play. They are in for the game of their life.

I can see Cam and Russell battling it out for the next decade or so. Which is great for me. Russell be fun to watch and all that.

The irony is: The defense doesn't carry Cam (with out even mentioning the Buffalo and Seattle game they blew, due to QB heroics marching up the field last minute. And yes, I'm aware of D'Angelo's fumble). They (the media) should know this.

The defense just keeps it close enough, till Cam can perform his heroics; cause it's not like the running game is counted upon to. Media tried "the run game" argument, but realized it didn't work, since Cam's been the leading rusher the past few games.

More even said "the defense" previously, till they saw Cam with three game winning drives in a row. What will they come up with next (especially if Cam goes into New Orleans, and has a great game and the "Panthers Win")!??? So you know many of these media types, really don't watch the team and are only parroting talking points, or what they heard some one else say (if they're not pulling it out of their arse altogether).

The only two aspects of this team that can be counted game in game out, are Cam and the defense (and GASP, I can't believe I'm saying/adding this) Ron Rivera--at the moment. Yeah, throw Riverboat in there to. Everyone else is a wild card. Yes, even Olsen drops critical or easy passes sometimes.

Completely agree with you. You know something I start hearing nowadays, "he's no Cam Newton". It's like music to my ear. Give it a couple of 12-4 seasons and maybe an NFC championship game appearance or two, or maybe a superbowl appearance, Cam will be the face of the NFL. I watch college football a lot, I also notice so many kids are imitating his superman celebration(Manziel is the most famous of them). The media and the NFL need to make room for this guy.
