I like underdogs and have pulled for Wegher but bubble players are not truly safe until about week 2 or so. Some of these guys will be traded for similar players on other rosters, or dropped to make room for them. Congrats on making the cut so far.
I like Stewart and I think he is going to be a beast this year, but you are right. No one wants to touch Stewart's salary. I dont know if this is true, but I read somewhere that Stew is the second highest paid back in the league behind A. Peterson.
Simple but efective post you make here. We have nothing to lose if you are right. Cam seems to like tall WRs. This became evident last year, and not to be negative, but Cam has had a habit of throwing high and overthrowing, and this is the front office addressing Cams needs and bringing players that will help him succeed. You are also correct concerning how these bigger guys will play a big role in the run game that we will be depending on. They will be springing blocks downfield against LBs and also helping chip pass rushers at the line. I totally trust g-man.
Yep this is a trap game imo. We are all 100 percent certain that the Panthers will win... but the Panthers under Rivera are never prepared for the season opener. Add in that Jacksonville will be 0-0 (before their season inevitibly goes down the tubes) so they will be fighting for a win. I predict Carolina 17 - 10... but i also give us a 25% chance to lose this game due to lack of preparedness. I would be less concerned if this matchup was later in the year after J-ville has been eliminated from playoffs, but week one everyone thinks they can win the Superbowl, so we will get the best the Jaguars have to throw at us.
19 million is the most cap room i ever remember the Panthers having... During ther Hurney era we were always at the limit.
G-man has not only improved the team, but he has finally got rid of Hurneys big contract mistakes, and has this team in position to be able to bring in quality free agents if needed. 19 million under the cap is good news.
I hope he is ready. The stats say that he emerged as a top 5 CB last year. If that trend continues, and Peanut and Marlowe and Bene contribute, we will no longer be the 'best front 7', but the best defense. We need Norman on the field.
I think he starts. It helps that we open against an easier team. If we were opening in an important game against the Saints or Seattle, we would probably wait for week 2.
But to be honest, I am ready for him to be on the field. What I saw him do in preseason was astonishing. I have never seen a LB with that much range. I think that even with his learning curve he will improve the defense on that side of the field.
I remember when we drafted him i jumped in the air and fist pumped and yelled out of joy and my friends thought I was insane, and most didnt even know who he was. There were very few people here at the huddle who liked the pick. There were maybe 5 of us, and most the rest were pissed off because we had Beason at MLB.
Brown doesnt need to be cut. He is fine as a WR3 or 4. I think people are just mad that we havent tried to get a WR1 (or best we can get) to help us. Philly was never suppossed to be a top 3 WR on this team. He was always suppossed to be behind KB, Funch and Olsen.
