yeah, I agree. Funchess really would be the one of he gets the green light in terms of getting open against ones. I do want to see some sort of rush game from the first team O. I'd like to see Boykin at some point before the ones are done.
Do these people know the NFL has played games in Mexico? Do these people know the NFL plans to start playing a game every year for 5 years in Mexico shortly? Do these people know we currently play in London? Do they know the NFL is looking into Germany, Brazil, and everywhere inbetween? Do these people have any idea despite it being slapped in their face as they sit and stare at a TV the NFL wants to have a global sport? That if you want it to grow you have to actually do things to make it easier for people of multiple cultures, countries, etc. to become engaged with the sport? No. These people don't engage their brains.
I don't much stock in winning the game or anything or final score. I put a good amount in how starters will play entering a season. There are exceptions like I don't think Cam really counts much b/c he is basically asked to be "half" of what he is. Outside of that, if WRs can't get open or catch....it means something. If the OL can't generate a traditional run game early....it means something. Means we have a long way to go still in those areas.
I think as long as you have these super human type people (which didn't exist years ago)....asking their bodies to hold up to what they do on a football field the only way to prevent anything is simply not playing.
there is always a anything can happen thing about sports that makes it so fun....bc anything can happen. but thinking your team SHOULD win it all shouldn't be viewed as a must to be a fan. For example, Washington Redskin fans SHOULD be considered delusional if they believe their team should win it all this year...not viewed as a testament of being a real fan. We COULD win it all this year. Based on what we currently know about our team I don't think anyone should say we SHOULD win the Super Bowl. Would need to see things happen that there isn't yet a foundation to believe in yet
Only when using RBs who didn't fit the zone read. Can't just use any decent RB. Zone read isn't as simple as some make it. Need that tough runner inside to make it work.... it it also isn't just running but passing from those looks.
you think we can run traditionally with under center in Shula's power scheme? With any type of consistency? 28 and Cam work that zone read well...the rookie should mesh well to. Biggest issue with zone read IMO is using guys who are weak at it. Was always odd watching 34 and Cam run it...body language was off. 34 didn't run inside well and often wouldn't release ball
First team offense is averaging about 2.8 yards per carry by RBs this preseason to date. a number greatly inflated by one 29 yard run. Literally every other time is 1 yard or negative almost. Not sure how coaches can be confident yet....hope we see something Friday. OL may be doing well pass blocking but that isn't what they will be asked of....not sure we can be confident we can run without Cam helping create lanes by the zone read
we probably will line up in boring power run sets and do little in them like them on our way to a 2-5 start. Then they abandon it and let Cam be Cam running heavier shotgun and zone read looks late in the year (lots of no huddle) and we have our standard late surge...
