  1. An Inexcusable, Willful Disregard for the Rules

Well thought out and while I can disagree with you on the importance of some things over others, these last 2 sentences are great summaries.
  2. the reason we attacked those cities is that they were unscathed due to their smaller amount of military related targets, and we wanted to have an accurate damage assessment from these devices, not because we wanted the highest death toll possible. Oh and Nagasaki was an alternate target, Kokura was the primary but visual aiming at the target was not working out. And of course WE were getting ready to invade THEM which was what we were trying to avoid.

Find something better that doesn't rely on someone saying "come on" and "it's flawed" but doesn't supply anything close to Politifacts data, which as been shown to be as well researched or better as anything else like it out there. In fact the point I am trying to make around here is that there are tons of people around here that thing she just lies about everything when in fact she's just an average career politician that changes positions as a political tool, and it's their own biases that create that idea more than her actions. This kind of illustrates what I am talking about - she's not likable because "she doesn't knit" or whatever - this turns into "shes a workaholic who doesn't care about anything but politics", which make her a bitch (men can be workaholics but not pantsuit wearing women), so shes a bitch politician, of course she lies, so now shes a lying bitch politician. I'm not a big Hillary fan, I don't identify with anything she is really on a personal level, but I do think she's been railroaded just by being hated by so many right wing people for so long for just being her. (you would think that as the victim of a cheating husband the right would be a little more sympathetic but haha just kidding) I don't mind taking the time to remind everyone that so much of this hatred of her is generated not by anything she's done, but by just being her, and people should take a step back and check to make sure they are being more analytical and less judgemental. I don't give a poo whether she is or isn't pretty, or feminine, or whether I want to have a beer with her (I'd bet after 4 or 5 she could tell some stories), I know that despite her complete submittal to the current political process she isn't going to fight against what really, really hard fought progress we've made in the past 8 years on things I care about, and she's not going to do anything really stupid like invade other countries to watch freedom blossom or whatever. She'll be great for womens rights at least. Rather have Sanders for a term but the thing about politics is that you never get what you want, you just get things kinda going your way or you aren't and there's something good about not rushing everything all the time.
  4. highly doubtful. I do, however, have my FB feed littered with people posting articles about Obama apologizing in his Hiroshima speech, which of course didn't happen. In this case it's not the peaceniks floating around bogus information.

Can't @Jangler just pop in here and call me gay and dumb right before the weekend starts, so we can settle all this, like we did it back in the day?
  10. Good to know you aren't funny even when you're trying to make a non-political joke. It was getting frustrating trying to figure out if it was just a translation thing.
  11. My introduction to the subject when I was around 7 or 8 years old.
  12. That article relies on some half truths and supposition although its basic premises can't be dismissed out of hand. I've read a lot of material on the subject and the idea that the Japanese were going to surrender regardless of us dropping the bomb is pretty sketchy. In the end the only lives we were really concerned about were American, and if using the bomb helped save our troops from enduring an invasion of the Japanese mainland then it was going to be used at that point. Our firebomb attacks killed a lot more people. And the reason we started firebomb attacks was that high altitude precision bombing over Japan was shown to be ineffective, after making the B-29 our largest wartime project (more expensive than the A Bomb) and we needed to use them for something. It's possible that the Russians entering the fight might have eventually caused the military to reconsider their policy of no surrender, but that was out of our control - using the bomb was in our control, and it also showed the Soviets that the West was going to be the power in charge post war, not them.
