  1. A Funchess Reminder

  2. Chargers release P Mike Scifres

I don't disagree with your general argument, and Scifres would be a quality addition. Wouldn't blame them if they pulled the trigger but also wouldn't mind seeing what the young guys can do.
  3. Seattle had it all come together when the secondary matured, Wagner came into the picture, they bolstered the pass rush with Avril/Bennet/Irvin, and Wilson's on-field miracles started to occur. The secondary had been together since 2011 but the team was 7-9 that year, going 11-5 (after adding Wilson, Wagner, and a couple others) and then 13-3 in their SB year after the roster changes noted above. Saying the secondary was the primary reason is inaccurate.
  4. Panthers Tango with Cash

Watching that highlight vid reminded me a ton of watching Luke knife through traffic and just bring the man down. Love this signing.
  5. Gettleman's biggest weakness IMO

You contradict yourself with these statements, and who cares if players are a 'reach' if they perform well and contribute. This is not to say that this year's picks are assured to do that, but so far his drafts have gone pretty well. For me, however, the larger concern is that drafts that only yield 4 or 5 picks require a strong hit rate. Again, it's worked out well thus far and the FO has earned the benefit of the doubt but still something to watch.
  6. Sort of (he played the 'Joker' in-the-box SS-type position his rookie year) but there was never any intention of leaving him there long-term.
  7. Don't necessarily disagree about McClain not being a lock, but he played reasonably well and Carolina only carried 5 (Norman, Bene/Finnegan, Tillman/Young, Williams, McClain) at a given time along with 4 safeties. The bottom of CB depth typically only sniffs ST anyway on this team since they don't/didn't run a dime package so it should be an interesting position to watch in camp.
  8. Pretty much. Bene, Boykin, McClain (assuming he looks as solid in camp as he did last year), and 2 rookies... doesn't seem too promising for Teddy Williams, Lou Young, etc.
  9. 2016 NFL Draft Round 2 General Discussion

And another receiver who steadily improved his rookie year, an offensive tackle who showed significant potential his rookie year, and most of the draft still to go.
  10. Tampa Bay Fans Delusional As Usual

If it's wrong, do you really want to be right?
  11. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

Gettleman said they should contribute/make an impact from day one, not necessarily start. Enough people have commented on DL rotation so I won't repeat it, but Butler and Star appear to play different DT positions. Additoonally, Gettleman also said that Butler has potential at the DE position and could rotate there as well. I don't see how Butler's pick has anything to do with Star other than that they're both DTs.
  12. Voth predicts Hunter Henry

Olsen's blocking has gone from abysmal to merely bad - serviceable is a very generous term. That said, he is way too effective in the passing game to take him off the field. For example: If Henry is drafted, I do hope that he can be a quality blocker because Greg isn't coming off the field.
