The play design of the two carries tolber had are so incredibly awful it's not even funny. The design had turner pulling (a pulling guard on a 2nd and goal fr the one!!!!). Turner pulled right into the back of Kalil, which resulted in the entire play collapsing on itself shula literally called the same set of plays against the phins that he did against the Niners in the 2013 playoffs. It had the exact same result as well.
thank God for some reason in this thread. People forget how important tolberts return last year was to the turnaround. Tolbert does the non flashy stuff extremely well (like blitz pick up, short yardage, and catching balls out of the back field) the huddle never ceases to amaze in preseason. A few guys have some decent showings against other teams scrubs and all of a sudden we should toss out our proven commodities to make room for these sure fire all pros. Hell, if you went with the huddle on some prior roster moves, I'm sure Taye Biddle would be amongst the greatest to ever played WR and they would already be molding his bust for Canton
I don't think they will cut Tolbert. Likely talking about Fozzy. I realize this means very little but Tolbert was featured on one of the seasons game tickets that psl holders get. Hard to imagine them cutting a guy they deemed worthy enough to put on the ticket along with nine other core members.
I think we see a strip sack from one of our ends. My money is on Mario i think we trade punts with the phins in the first quarter landry beats Tillman for a td and the huddle panics tillman forces a fumble on the next possession and the huddle rejoices
This is more 2004 than anything. We lost our main weapon (smith) in the opener. Jake developed great chemistry with moose who ended up having an amazing year. It took that team half a year to recover from the smith injury. Hopefully this team bounces back quicker.
Losing KB sucks but the real effects on the team are these: the defense can not play like they did mid season last year. They have to be top ten all year. The run game is going to have to be solid. Stewart and Cap are going to have to pound the rock and stay healthy. The defense is going to have to score and give us short fields. Special teams can't give people short fields. Lastly and most importantly: Cam Newton can not turn the ball over and is going to have to elevate the game of his receivers. Franchise qbs are paid big money to do this and he is going to have to do it better than he ever has
Get well KB im going to take the positive approach to this. We still have a healthy cam newton, a healthy Stewart, a line that doesn't have chandler or bell starting and Greg Olsen. When we started the season last year we had a banged up Cam, a horrible oline, deangello as our primary back and our whole passing game hinged on a "raw" rookie we still won the division and a playoff game. We are in the same boat as last year in needing a receiver to step up. Hopefully funchess can learn on the job quick.
