Herman's Hermits, Eric Burden and the Animals, The Turtles, The Ventures, Grass Roots a lot of early R&B and Motown... Then FM radio came along and essentially segregated music and each format had their own station. Before FM, when AM was all there was, you could hear a Roger Williams tune followed by the early Stones, then Marvin Gaye...
This. If you think Muslims are generally treated like poo in this country- which they are- talk to an atheist sometime. The generally pervasive attitude among American society is that atheists are completely amoral, unethical and untrustworthy.
Not confused in the least, having spoken with many Sunnis, Shiites, Turkmen in the year or so leading up to the Kuwaiti invasion. As early as 1991, not long after the first Gulf War, it was a very well established belief among the military on the ground and those who spent actual time speaking with these people that any protracted conflict involving any of the many tribes would ultimately result in the void, the same void which General Wesley Clarke and Colin Powell, among others, warned of in 2002. But then, why would Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush or anyone else listen to someone, you know, who's been there? But go ahead, g5, educate us on what Fox News told you really happened.
Yeah... I don't read Huffington. Most of the hijackers were detained at various points and times around the country for a variety of reasons and the laptop containing the entire 9/11 operation was seized at one point as well. But you must remember the infamous "Patriot Act" that, in part, allowed the United States to invade the privacy of anyone they wanted, whenever they wanted wasn't signed until after 9/11. So the ACLU had nothing to do with the fact that before 9/11, one couldn't be arrested and detained with little or no reason. All I'm asking for is equal time. Here you have the conservative right conducting the longest Congressional investigation in the history of the country, all the while forgetting their own policies and decisions got us into a "War On Terror," created a vacuum of power throughout the Middle East and gave rise to groups like ISIL, among others, and led to our demise as being such a likable country. And I've voted third party as well. The first time being in 1980...
Actually, the same type of intel was available before 9/11, how'd that work out? But listen to the Repubs and their, "George W. Bush protected us." What the fug? You folks on the right need to get over yourselves and learn something besides what you see on Fox.
The good ol' Republican way: We don't need big government, we don't want government involved in our state, we don't need government looking over our shoulders.... Until we want something and can't do it ourselves.
I hear a lot of people talk about the mythical "Oh, but you get all summer off" excuse and I don't think many of them think their statement through before opening their mouths. I find it somewhat odd that a profession which has as much daily contact with our children, possibly more than the parents themselves, is so poorly understood, misrepresented and parents actually know very little about. Because teacher salaries are so low, a lot of them will teach summer school just to make ends meet. And you and I can basically ask for a week of vacation whenever is convenient for us, teachers don't have that luxury. Time was, as a young teenager, I thought I wanted to be a teacher. Some of the more progressive states even offer programs which apply military career experience toward a teaching credential.
Not to worry. While the conservative right was lamenting this as yet another tragedy which claimed lives and little could have been done to stop it, the Republicans were convening yet another hearing on Benghazi- another tragedy which claimed lives and little could have been done to stop it. “Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable right? But we put together a Benghazi Special Committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping," McCarthy said. "Why? Cause she’s untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened had we not fought and made that happen.” Thanks for finally admitting the Repubs have been using these hearings as a campaign tactic, McCarthy. This investigation by Congress is now the longest running Congressional tap dance in history. Longer than the 9/11 hearings or the Katrina Response hearings.
While the state legislators will be the first to pat themselves on the back and brag about giving teachers the single highest ever pay raise in state history, there are just a few things they forget to mention.... like the fact they haven't doled out any teacher raises for about 5 years, the fact they cut hundreds of teaching assistant positions to pay for the raise and the fact they butchered the tenure system.
Call about 5-6 of your fellow Huddlers, have them all play the part of your cousins, ask them over to your place on Sunday. Watch the game, wait for the win and in a pure celebratory move, simply ask if she'd mind taking part in a family gang bang with all the cousins.
Yeah, what he said. Just because you dished out tens of thousands of dollars over the past 20 years for PSLs, tickets, gasoline and whatever else doesn't entitle you to jackshit. They don't even owe you mediocrity.... so there!
If the guy in Oregon walked in and said, "Who in here is a Republican?" and proceeded to shoot everyone who claimed to be a Republican... or vice versa... I guarantee there might arise some meaningful conversation.
