  1. Gettleman says BPA philosophy changed this year.

I'm not so sure I want to see these guys on the field this year to be honest, because they are all raw. In any case, I believe you can develop them off the field as well as on. Ultimately, you can't let a probowler go, and this is your plan in trying to replace him. The second G-man figured he would have to bring in 3-4 guys in the draft just to fill one gap, he should have tossed the thought of releasing Norman out of his mind.

I doubt all these guys will be on the field this year.

Or he could have kept Norman, and drafted two of these guys in the later round to develop this year.

Perhaps G-man should have thought of that before he foolishly took the tag off the table.
  5. We all know Gettlemen's record and his talent evaluating staff is among the best. Most picks that he take, I get on board with. Yet this Bradberry pick and everything surrounding it gives me great cause for pause. There's no question with the guys we have on the D-line and in our LB corps will make any DB look good, but man, that doesn't give you the license to take any cat off the street and put him back there just because he's "big" and "long". I think DG is being caught smelling himself a little bit here. I hate to keep saying it, he messed up with the Norman situation, plain and simple. Norman made our defense better last year and we need to give credit where credit is due. Overall, we have a great team and letting Norman go will not break our season.
  6. I have to be honest, I think Bradberry is going to be a bust. From what little highlights I could find, the word "impressed" doesn't come close to mind. If you're going to take him in the second round, we should be able to see something from him more than just his physical size. Some have already said before, this pick is a pure panic pick from losing Josh Norman, even though the Panthers swore up and down they wouldn't reach for a guy to fill a need. (Or at least many have sworn they wouldn't) So there you have it. Gettleman's worst mistake so far as a GM in letting Norman walk, just got a little bigger. Now our third round pick in Worley looks leagues beyond Bradberry in terms of ball skills and tackling. I'm not ecstatic that we traded up to get him, but at least he shows promise. James Bradberry has Amini Silatolu written all over him.
  7. He probably have that kind of speed. Playing closer to the line is his specialty so perhaps being a linebacker may help his game. If he adds some muscle, that could help with bringing down opposing backs and receivers.
  8. Since you've mentioned it, someone said Atlanta could move Neal to linebacker. If that happens, hopefully he won't turn out to be the next Derrick Brooks.
  9. A C today. A A two years from now.
  10. How do the Buccaneers get a better grade for drafting a 5'10" corner, who has to defend arguably the strongest receiver in the league and is very close to 6'6" tall?
  11. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

A lot of people are focusing on what Butler will do for this D-line in terms of keeping it fresh. Honestly one of the first things I thought about was Kuechly and our linebacker will be running free for days. No opposing running back nor QB will be safe from our defensive core.
  12. A trade I'd like to see tomorrow

Never trade away future 1st round picks. Besides, no one available is worth it. Tonight the boards fell the way the Panthers wanted it to fall. Perhaps things will play out the same. Let's not trade up for the sake of trading up.
  13. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

Why are people saying this means either Star or KK are gone? Did we not just free up a billion dollars in cap space by letting Norman walk? We are going to sign everyone on this D-line to fat contracts!
  14. I agree, and a slower clone at that. He's definitely not worth a first. If I even considered drafting him, I wouldn't do it until the 4th round or later.
