  1. Trai Turner hires new representation...

Kalil is 31, and his current contract is ending/has voidable years. But I could easily see him coming back on something like a 2 year, for 6-7 million a year to chase rings. He's making an average of just over 8 now on his current deal. I don't think we have to worry about losing him due to money...he's here as long as he wants to play IMO. Locking up Turner and Norwell could get interesting, but I imagine it gets done. The OTs will continue to be the issue, though. If DG decides to pay for one...we're going to lose some guys. If we draft one...he's going to have to find a gem late in the 1st or trade up, unless he hits a home run in the middle of the draft which obviously can't be banked on.
  2. Jaguars not excersing 5th year option on Luke Joeckel

If we're in the market for an (ex) Jags OT...Eugene Monroe is the play. Recovering from injury, the Ravens just drafted his replacement, and has a friendly remaining amount of money on his contract. Believe it's something like 3 years, 18 million left but with little guarantees and his dead cap hits aren't awful going forward. At best, our OL revitalizes a very good OT and we get a starter should Oher/Remmers revert back to being bad. At worst, we get depth (granted, at the cost of a draft pick...probably a low one, though), and depth that can be cut at any time to save money.
  3. Hedging your bets, a lesson in drafting success.

DG's post draft presser kinda cemented this idea. He basically decides to see which position group is in the most dire need, and then attacks it to fix it, often times with guys who will grow together. First it was DT/DL (Stah, KK, Ealy), then WR (KB, Philly, Funch), and now the new CBs. The OL could be next depending on how those contracts play out over the next year or two. Plus, it helped getting a beast in Trai and lucky with Norwell/Oher/Remmers to help push the OL needs down the road.
  4. Dave Gettleman...Thug Life...Enjoy

After seeing so many guys on the OL banged up last year, I can't imagine we're done there. I'd say we're waiting for cuts and bringing in a decent guy or two for depth. And yeah, the Punter situation is curious. Maybe we don't bring anyone in...but that worries me that Swayze or whoever sucks it up early on, and we have to grab a more established guy off the street during the season.
  5. Tryout Invitations (OP updated May 5)

Deaver from Duke is interesting. Was a pretty productive guy at Duke before his knee injury. I remember him being preseason All-ACC and on some award watch lists...but he's got his work cut out for him.
  6. Spent too much to get games, people are cutting the cord, they let actual talent like Bill Simmons go, they've been TMZ for years now, etc. And to all that I say, good. I always want ESPN to exist, but cut the dumb content out, focus on sports and great stories like the 30 for 30 series and Grantland (which, was Simmons' doing...RIP Grantland), and pay actual talent instead of the Stephen A's and Skip Bayless's of the world for years on years of shitty shows like First Take. I understand they have to feed the mouth-breathing population of the world, but they're shtick has been tired for years.
  7. -Game of Thrones-HBO-

Who gets the honor of killing Ramsay would be one helluva fun death pool Unless he ends up being the only person left in power at the end of the show/books just to fug with people.
  8. -Game of Thrones-HBO-

    I. Need. More. Episodes.
  9. But how else will I be angry about Player X who I just Google'd and saw that he was projected by Todd McKiper as a 5th rounder?
  10. For anyone uninterested in the fifth round...

Voth tweeted that Gettleman may try to package our 5th and 7th to get into the tail-end of the 4th round...hopefully some team would do it, but I doubt it.
  11. Best players left going in to day 3

Cash or Cooper please. Expecting it to be a LB, RB, or QB though.
  12. Gettleman says BPA philosophy changed this year.

Really hate the Saints for grabbing Vonn Bell right before our 2nd pick.
  13. Sorry. Gettlemens Draft This Year Blows

I LOVE the draft I HATE the Huddle during the draft Surprise picks? Sure. But a lot of dudes we'd been linked to went early in the 2nd. I'm not going to pretend to know jack poo about the CBs we drafted, but I'll trust the staff to coach them up. I didn't know poo about Bene a couple years ago...worked out alright. As for the whole draft position thing...don't people constantly blast Kiper and Co. for their "expert" opinions never being right? GMan hadn't 2nd round grades on these CBs, then he had 2nd round grades on them. I'll trust the dude who's studied them as opposed to getting irrationally angry about a couple players I've never watched play being drafted "too early" because an arbitrary number was assigned to them by someone on the Interwebz.
  14. Top 30 players left after Round 1

I'm starting to think DG is content with the DE group, so a guy like Ogbah may not be in play unless he fell in our lap ala Kony a couple years ago. He's talked about the potential of some of the practice squad guys before like Cox and Miley. He likes Delaire. And we already have CJ, Kony, and Addison so I think we may stand pat at DE. One of the Henrys, Fuller, Cravens, Shepard, etc. please.
  15. We should call up Prisco before every pick, ask who he thinks we shouldn't take, and then take that player.
