THE world's oldest dog record holder, Chanel, has died.
The wiry-haired dachshund from New York was 21 years old when she passed away, or a remarkable 147 in dog years.
She died last Friday of natural causes and was the Guinness World Record holder for the oldest dog, NY DailyNews reports.
Officials had honoured her status earlier this year by giving the pooch a special celebration at a Dog hotel and spa.
Chanel was adopted from a pet shelter by her owners Denice and Karl Shaughnessy when she was six weeks old.
The Shaughnessy's said in May they believed Chanel 'had plenty of life left in her'.
She will still be listed in the 2010 edition of Guinness World Records.

I feel bad for the people that had to live with a dachshund for 21 years.

In May they said she had plenty of life left in her. What a lie.
