GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The parents of an infant left in a car seat in a parking lot will both be facing misdemeanor abuse charges.
North Carolina A&T Campus Police Chief Glen Newell said the 11-week-old girl was left in her car seat in outside of Webb Hall with nothing more than a few diapers at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
The baby is in good condition.
Police found and charged her mother, 23-year-old Tekia Ritter ,Friday morning.
The baby's father, 25-year-old Lashawn Murray, was charged Friday afternoon.
Newell said Ritter came to campus and asked Murray to watch their child. When he refused Ritter put the child on top of Murray's car and left.
Murray then put the baby on the ground and called 911, leaving the baby on her own for about 20 minutes.
Newell said, "It's quite alarming to leave a child unattended the weather was quite chilly."
Police said other charges were pending.
What is wrong with people? Take the baby to a firehouse!!!
