such a racist mascot all the high schools and "private" acadamies with the name have mostly been changed (because most academies were founded during the civil rights movement just for Caucasian kids to still be schooled segregated.). I know there was one here in Wilmington that had its mascot changed from rebels to hurricanes a year ago because of that. Also its kinda funny cuz now they have black kids in their schools, not because families put them there from the start, but because of athletic ability, so now they get to go there for free.

seriously...Charlotte Panthers....I've never liked when teams are named for the state or in your case states....

People (in other places) have a difficult time distinguishing if Charlotte is in NC and Charleston is in SC; they get'em reversed. Evidently, they don't teach History OR Geography in school any more.

The league originally wanted the Panthers to have purple as one of their team colors. Jerry balked.

The league wanted us to be called the Rhinos too. Thankfully Jerry said no to both, and the Ravens got stuck with the purple and black.

Though I think I like the Panthers more than all of them...

Charlotte Panthers would be dope, but that would eliminate a lot of fans. Which isn't cool.

I always like the idea of actually naming the team after something meaningful, and not just same random animal that isn't already a team name. Anything, sh¡t, anything creative and original would be nice. I always thought the "New England Patriots" was such a great name, and obviously the "Pittsburgh Steelers" but even teams like the "Baltimore Ravens" and "Tampa Bay Buccaneers" have something in relation to its city - Baltimore named after Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem "The Raven", who was a Baltimore native. Even their mascots (3 ravens) are named Edgar, Allen, and Poe...pretty neat...

I would rename them the North Carolina Panthers. Maybe then Charleston will get an expansion team. They need some money down there. Plus we all know that the Panthers are really North Carolina's team. They play in Charlotte and they are based there.

I like um as the Carolina Panthers!

If Charleston got a team (Which would be fudging ridiculously sweet)....Charleston Jetliners? (Get it, Boeing?!)

Or the Lowcountry Pirates....

Carolina Cougars goes back to the World Football League in the early 70's.

What I named my 1st Fantasy team back in the late 80's.

I like Carolina Panthers,but if I had to change it,maybe Carolina copperheads,somebody already picked that,or Carolina moonshiners.Of course the upstanding,church people wouldn't have it w/ that name and rename it the Carolina evangelicals!
