Look for the Arizona Cardinals to be one of the major players to bid for, and eventually land, former Browns QB Derek Anderson.

Interesting.

beat me to it

some talk of Seattle as well....his family all live there...but it makes me think they would have worked that in the Wallace deal to begin with.

Arizona's quarterback search will include Anderson

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 9, 2010 4:48 PM ET
We wrapped up our recent Derek Anderson post by speculating that the Cardinals would be one of the teams to show interest in him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter, who does actual reporting unlike certain internet hacks, has confirmed as much. He writes that the Cardinals will be one of Anderson's strongest suitors.

The Cardinals are also taking a look-see at Chargers reserve Charlie Whitehurst, who was tendered at the original round level. (He was a third-round pick.)

Anderson will come without compensation, and his big arm could be attractive to teams that have vertical threats. Like, say, the Cardinals.

Whitehurst is apparently pretty good.

To be honest....I thought Arizona might take a look at Delhomme.

Regardless of whom picks up Anderson, he should be a serviceable backup.

He didnt get them to the playoffs..

My bad, close to the playoffs. They lost that game to the Bengals that would have put them in.

I would much prefer Derek Anderson over Josh McCown at backup QB. Panthers won't land him though, and honestly, not sure if we really even need him. I still want a better veteran at backup than what we have.

Out of the Quarterbacks that are Unrestricted Free Agents I would only take the guys listed below.

In this order
Derek Anderson
Rex Grossman
Kyle Boller

Same here. I'm more comfty with Anderson than McClown. But it possible he want to be a starter somewhere than backup. Who know.

Please tell me you're joking with having Grossman on your list there. That guy is mediocre big time. I rather Jake come back than getting Grossman.

He proved a few years ago that he wasn't a bad qb. He needs a fresh start. For us though, I'm not too sure. He would give Moore some competition, which would be a good thing, but Moore would still be our starter.

Not for or against Anderson, but we were saying the same thing about Carr.

I agree. I see the whole "Carr situation" repeating if he came here.

As others have said, given a fresh start I think he could be prosperous---not to mention we could get a could deal, I'm sure. I say pull the plug on McClown, bring Anderson on, and let he and Moore duke it out for the #1 spot...
