The KO specialist was due to make over a million next season. It's no secret that JR is looking for fiscal responsibility with the lockout looming. He'd look hypocritical for hanging on to Lloyd--a million dollar guy that might see the field 4 or 5 plays a game.

As for the WR and DE scenario, that's only a couple of spots and DE may only have one addition for depth. You make it sound as if the 54 man roster is darn near set and the team is making cuts to get under the limit.

It's obvious we are not going to agree on this one, so I'm ready to leave it alone....

I swear some posters act like this team is so fragile and misguided that they couldnt take a sh*t without someone else wiping their ass for them properly.

I don't know what this team is going to do without some average white guy playing fullback next year.

they're gonna pwn, the same way they pwned the vikings, giants and saints at the end of last season. except it's gonna be even crazier cause moore will be the full time starting QB, and teams won't know how to defend steve smith, DW, j-stew, (hold your breath) and dwayne jarrett.

That really is the issue which should debated. One player alone rarely defines a team and their loss won't doom it to fail either. Hoover was personally hurt I am sure and that is to be expected and it was a business decision. The real concern to the Panthers is really how many guys can you lose and still maintain your leadership. How many unproven guys are we looking to step up all at once. And if things go poorly like they did last year who will be there to steady the ship and keep the effort strong and consistent. Coaches readily admit they can only do so much. It takes players on the team to step up and show leadership on the field.

I really think we can weather some losses like Jake, Kemo and even Peppers. I just think that when you subtract without adding, you end up in the negative. Until we do some significant addition it will hard for me to be that optimistic. Hopefully the draft goes a long way to do that.

P55 you have been making this point in like 5 threads. How people don't understand what you are saying is disturbing. How many robots are fans of this team? "the Panthers are always right"......... "They don't make bad moves".......... "it's good too have 6-7 player you hope will step up".........

People as of today this is not a better team then the one that ended the season. Do me favor please look at the roster that finished the season and look at the roster now. Which roster has more ? and more holes too fill?

You are obviously one of the few who have noticed. I don't think any one move taken by itself is bad in and of itself. And every year there are guys who had to step up and assume bigger roles. I just can't remember a time when we were counting on so many guys having to simultaneously step up at the same time and all perform at a high level. That doesn't even count the 8 or 9 guys who will have to come in and replace the backups who are now starters. That means a total of 18 or more guys will assume starter roles or make significant contributions. With many of these new starters having little starting experience it means we will have guys backing them up who will be expected to come in yet have no playing experience in the NFL at all.

I expect guys like Beason, Harris, Gross, and Smitty will do their best to provide leadership but they can't do it alone or make other players perform at the same level that they do by sheer willpower.

And all of this assumes we don't have a spate of injuries and have to bring in more guys to make up for any that get hurt or IRed.

I am very concerned that we are setting ourselves up to struggle. I also think that the FO knows it and frankly are willing to struggle all while denying the problems as they raise ticket prices across the board.

I totally agree...never would I have thought the day :P

While I agree with the "youth movement", I don't agree with how we plan to solve majority of our problems this offseason. We plan to solve them from the draft I.E. rookies with our limited picks and patch everything else we miss through FA (after the draft).

As for the bolded...I had this theory
