the only thing he's owed is about 18 over the next 3 years which is absolutely nothing.

the panthers would be dumb as hell not to trade like a 2nd or a 3rd+someone they have a plethora of (corners and offensive linemen) but of course they won't because of dipshit character concerns.

he'd immediately address the biggest need that we're going to that pick on anyway.

no kidding.

we pick up him and alex brown and that Dline could become one of the best in the league.

we still would need to get a couple WRs (one being a returner) but aside from that there wouldn't be much else as far as needs. it would be all about bargain bin depth at that point.

Actually his contract is not that big if he is traded. Washington already paid him. It is essentially a 4 year 48 million dollar contract because the 5th year is a poison pill of 29 million.
As for the 48 million he was paid 5 million to sign and received a 21 million dollar options already so 26 of the 41 million are already paid for by the Redskins. So his contract for the next 3 years would be his guaranteed salaries which would be 15 million- 3.5 million in 2010, 5 million in 2011, and 6.5 million in 2012. There are another possible 15 million in incentives and workout bonuses but those he will have to earn and usually it is well worth it for a player to reach their incentives.

Look at the math and tell me where I am wrong. Washington has already eaten the majority of the guaranteed money. It would be a bargain now that all of that is out of the way. A second rounder would be a steal at this point and I bet you could get him for a 3rd. Baker would have a field day with Haynesworth. He would be our Kris Jenkins back again. He would make our line go from suspect to pretty good single handedly.

We don't need Pep.. what we need is a power house DT...

I would love to see this..

WTF?! no player not even Reggie White. is worth that.

It's really not that bad for a player like Haynesworth, if the 'Skins picked up the 21 mil. guaranteed. Ah yes, as now quoted, it would only be about 20 mil. for 3 years? That would be sccchhhweeeeet!

Marshall and Haynesworth would be a good investment towards the future and definitely possible.. We are looking at 2 of our biggest needs right in the eye.. We need a #1 WR, pay the man. He's fuging good. We need a really good pass rush/run stop DT, the man is coming relatively cheap.. get him here..

especially Marshall.. being that he's young and top 5? talent... close enough for me to say pull the trigger..

With Haynesworth's age, I'd question is it really worth it, but at 20 mil over 3 or 4 years.. I say take the chance..

Its one or the other man. No way we can afford both of them for long and all our young core.

at 18 mill for 3 years hell yeah he is worth it. ~6 mill a year is a steal. he does have his issues, but i would love to see him in here with leonard in the nfcs. that would shut up the run games with those 2 and brayton. he is like jenks was in 2003 when he is on. while we dont have a pep or rucker on this line, we didnt have a DT worth a damn push the qb out of the pocket towards the ends like jenks did the last 2 years, so who knows. add brown as said above (or little as a pass rush specialist) and things get intresting on the DL.

that said we are in cut not spend mode :( wont happen.

I have no idea where our cap is at the moment (keeping in line just incase we have a cap in 1 or 2 years), I'd have to see the numbers before I believed it wasn't possible...

we need a #1 receiver and a DT.. Those are 2 positions where we are going to have to pay regardless, whether its now or in 5 years... now tell me, would you rather wait 5 years to shore up those 2 important positions? and wait until we perhaps get lucky and draft a SOLID #1 WR and a pro bowl DT?

because right now there are 2 FA's we realistically have a CHANCE at getting here.. being tight in the wallet for a QB, RB, OLine, CB, or FB would make sense to me and I would agree with you at those positions. We are good at those positions..

I think I would take more than 5 minutes to consider the real possibility of getting 2 positions filled that we have been dying to fill for years now..

because as you said, we need to get our young core signed.. and I agree. but to not consider shoring up our young core with a #1 WR and a pro bowl DT wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to me..

matter of fact, it frustrates me since for 5+ years we have needed a solid #2 WR. and for 3+ years we have needed an extremely solid DT.

Both of which we never had a replacement before letting the starter go.

right now, there is a solution, yet again.. are we going to Bolden this situation again? (like we have done for years, or make a change that puts us over the top for once)
