Is it just me or do these statements contradict each other?

My apologies. I forgot to include "to Panthers fans around here." Meaning when we sign a former Panthers player, according to Panthers fans here, the guy is garbage. I'm just saying that there is a history of this happening. I'm sure it probably happens on every team's board. I don't visit any other boards, as ironic as that is.

I think he is talking about how Panthers fans view any ex-Panther after they sign with another team....

Yes. I left out a few words. I thought the premise of my statement would carry.

I guarantee you for every one person that is talking trash about Harris right now, there are between 10 and 20 who are said to see him go and still think highly of him.

And I agree completely. All of the Panthers fans that I'm friends with and spoke with, and in some cases broke the news to, all were not happy to lose Chris. They all quickly followed up with something pertaining to his lack of speed in coverage. This makes me snicker as this was exactly what I said of him when he was traded to the Panthers 3 years ago. I said that he plays with a lot of heart, hits like a bull, but is a bit slow and can be a weakness in coverage. I was, of course, shot down by several youtube videos of him making a nice play, which put me in my place.

I guess the record speaks for itself at this point.

It will be interesting to see how much Matt Moore or whoever is QB tries to single him out and take advantage of that weakness.

I'm sure he will continue to be a stout hitter. I'll miss him on the Panthers squad..He's just another opponent when the game goes down. Peppers, on the other hand.......

Come on, dimbee. I've seen a few people who have insinuated that our secondary got better on account of Harris' poor coverage skills, but by and large I think Panthers fans are upset that he's gone, but also looking forward to see what Williams can do.

Several Bears fans have come on here and spoken highly of Williams, and they've been met with enthusiasm from Panthers fans.

Speak for yourself I can't wait too see what Norwood can do beside Beason and Davis. I hope this dude can help special teams.

What about my comment led you to believe I wasn't also looking forward to seeing what Williams could do?

Who here has called Harris garbage? Who has called Peppers garbage?

Harris is, at best, average. Below average or simply average =/= garbage. He's a liability in coverage and has been since he arrived. However, he brings the wood and keeps everyone energized when he's laying guys out. But there's no denying that his numbers have declined over the past 3 years. His numbers should pick back up in Chicago though. Assuming Cutler keeps mistaking cornerbacks for receivers, Harris will spend plenty of time on the field.

Peppers isn't garbage. He's a top 10 defensive end. A large percentage of the fan-base had a problem with him long before he became a bear. Call it lack of heart, lack of consistency, lack of desire, whatever; he should be a better player than he is and he childishly blames the Panthers for his own failures.

To be fair, Chris Harris was a Bear (and apparently one at heart as well) first.

And, thank you for Tim Shaw. I love that dude. He's nasty on our Special Teams. Omiyale, we'll find out this season how good he is. Basanez. Meh.

no problem, good luck this season.

That is what I was saying. People seem to be excited or interested in Williams because of what Bear's fans says. I think Norwood is going to be the man too watch and get excited about. I could care less about Williams.

Peppers will continue to be exactly what he has been.....a freak athlete that give inconsistent effort.

He will give you 3 games where he looks all-pro......5-6 games where he plays solid.....and then about 8 games where you wonder if he showed up at the stadium.

I love it how fans that just signed a player will pretend to know more about him then the team fans he has played for for the better part of a decade (and considering he was a homegrown player before that for many of our fans). None of us deny that he is an athletic freak that can absolutely dominate a game but he also can disappear for months at a time.

Whatever Bears hes your problem now. I for one am glad he is gone. Got tired of the whole team, media, fanbase being about 1 player that IMO isn't good enough to warrant that attention. I see this as this years Jay Cutler, sure he has talent but ignore the ? and see where it gets you.
