Buckner = Garbage

Every Peppers thread includes some kind of ninja Jenkins reference too, like we let a valuable locker room leader slip away from us or something. Jenkins' departure is not only vastly overrated by our fanbase, but it was also clearly a calculated move by the FO. I don't get the adoration for him. He was an above average tackle but 2003 Jenkins was long gone by 2007. The dude made it extremely clear during his last two seasons here that he didn't give a sh*t about the city, the fans, or the organization.

And when Jenkins was talking about teammates going through the motions, do you think he was referring to Beason and Harris, or maybe someone a little closer to him on the line?

Buckner did, indeed, play for the Steelers, and as Pittsburgh is about to play for the big ring, I think his jersey selection was more a matter of cheering on his former team in the Super Bowl. As to his take on the Peppers situation, I don't think any of us were in the huddles with Pep and Buck, so none of us can say for sure what kind of heart Julius has. And I do recall Buckner saying emphatically that the opinions of Peppers he was espousing were his only, and in no way those of any organization or person other than himself. That said, though, Buckner retired after a long career of being one of the best in the business at what he did. If we are to take the opinions of anyone else on sports radio seriously, then mustn't we also give a degree of weight to what a man who actually played with Peppers while in a Panthers uniform has to say?

This thread (and the others about him) just shows that Buck is exceeding expectations in his job now and he should probably print this thread out and take it to whoever is in charge and get a bigger timeslot and a raise.

Keep up the great work Buck.

I like Buck, and I think he calls it like he sees it. Are you going to tell me that Peppers never took a play off, or that he brought his A game constantly? You don't like what Buck's saying, so you're attacking the messenger. The message is spot-on though.

Well said.

I have listened to what Buck said quite a bit lately.

A lot of it has been spot on.

He isn't paid to be a teammate now.

He is paid to give insighte on what is happening with the Panthers.

Anyone who has watched Julius for the past 2 years would be saying what he is saying.

Buck explained his love for the Steelers on Monday. He grew up a Steeler fan, he has a room full of Steeler memorabilia, he had it when he played for the Panthers! He said that when he played for Pittsburgh he was living his dream. He pulls for Clemson because he played for them and feels like they set him up to get into the NFL. The only thing I can come up with for his liking UNC basketball is that he is a bandwagon jumper.

Buck has always been on the mark with his analysis. He and Frank Garcia are great, even though they get ragged all the time.

Some folks just have a hard time hearing and accepting truthful statements.

I won't believe this until i see someone put together some youtube clips in the next ten minutes because there's liek no stats that can show this is true!!

From what I recall, Buckner has always been good at analyzing the game and picking up little things. It was him who figured out something the Giants offense was doing that tipped them off when we shut them out.

He doesn't seem jealous to me. He has also always been a call it like he sees it kind of guy. I think that may have helped his departure from the Panthers a bit earlier than it could have been (notice that speaking out publicly with this team tends to get you ousted rather quickly).

Buckner has the rare ability to look you straight in the eye and tell you how it is, and he doesn't care if you like it or not. Just because it is the truth, some people don't like it, and everything he has said is the truth.
