Clausen has played in pro games and has had moments even if he's not great.

Stick any college kid - Newton, Luck, Gabbert, any of 'em - in the starting lineup of a pro game right now and they'd fold like an accordion.

Regarding Pike, I think we still don't know about him. You just can't reliably judge by last season.

Sheer speculation there. They would prob fair just as well as clausen, some better because of athletisim. Clausen was not given much help last year and was not athletic so he responded accordingly.

they would fail miserably without at least some NFL experience.

people have unrealistic expectations for rookies after Matt Ryan/Joe Flacco and now Bradford. rookie QB's are usually bad, and if we drafted Newton or Gabbert they would more than likely be just as bad as Clausen or any other rookie thrown onto a horrible offense.

If the super bowl taught anybody anything yesterday it's that you want the best pure passing pocket QB you can get. Cam is not that.

With all the comparisons I've seen between Big Ben and Cam Newton and with Riveras ability to build a top defense wherever he goes we could really be Steelersesque, I think JR just jizzed.

Arguably the top 5 QBs in today's NFL, in no particular order:

Brady
Manning
Brees
Rodgers
Rivers

All of these QBs are accurate passers, none of them are known for being overly mobile. Definitely not runners, and Manning and Brady are downright slow.

If we take Newton at #1, I will pee on Hurney's head.

I want pat Peterson. But if we get cam I'm not going to commit suicide like some on this board. We better do some serious damage in fa tho, we have tons of holes on this team. Yes I said tons.

And numbers 6-10 are

Big Ben
Vick
Freeman
Ryan
Romo (damn are QBs in the league really that weak where he makes my top 10?)

Thats 4 of 5 who are very mobile and if you counted Rodgers as a mobile QB (he definitely is) then half of my top 10 can be categorized as mobile.

It isn't that far-fetched. Newton will likely go top 10. Between now a draft day he is also going to be the QB whose stock rises the most. If you look past the great Jimmy Clausen, we have nothing else at QB.

I'm big on defining terms, and one of the ones that people tend to get wrong is thinking that a "mobile quarterback" is the same thing as a "running quarterback".

A mobile quarterback is one that can move around in the pocket, maybe run the ball if needed, but they're a passer first.

A running quarterback is one whose primary weapon is his legs, which means he's a subpar passer.

Mobile quarterbacks you can win it all with. Running quarterbacks? Not so much.
