So a CB hasn't been drafted first overall, fine...

and that's a shame. it would really suck to strike out on two qb's in consecutive years, that would be more a shame. Especially when next years stock appears more talented.

Even without Andrew Luck next years QB class is a lot more talented.

I know some of the Newton fans think that none of us "haters" want to take a QB because we're still holding out hope for Luck, but that's not the case(for me at least). If we don't end up with the #1 pick next season(odds are we won't) we'll still be able to get a better QB than any in this draft.

That's why you don't piss it away on QB either.

I keep hearing that "next year's class is SO MUCH BETTER. I don't know why. Out of all the QBs that could come out next year it is my opinion that NOBODY except of course Luck is a much better prospect than Ryan Mallett.

Mallett is rated by most people, what, around 4th in this year's class. and projected late first round or early second round.

Mallett out performed Barkley by a landslide in every major category (they were about even in completion percentage) this past season and did so against top flight competition in a pro style offense. He has a stronger arm, is more accurate, and both had 12 interceptions last year. I have seen plenty of games where Barkley made just as many bad decisions if not more than Mallett last season.

So how, if this year's #4 QB outperformed next years supposed #2 QB all season against top talent in a pro style offense, am I supposed to be convinced that next year's talent is better?? I'm not.

The only way that this year's class is suddenly deemed not as good as next year's is because Luck is a safer prospect than Cam or Gabbert. But that isn't enough to claim that he entire class is somehow superior to this year's class.

To me, unless we are picking Luck next year we are going to be in a position to have to make just as difficult a decision next year as we do this year about what QB to draft. The only difference is we would have wasted another year.

Emtman was a bad ass, for the 2 games he actually made it on the field.

Revis was THE reason they beat the chargers two years back in the playoffs...

CB is never the sole reason any team wins. And even if this was true, Packers secondary helped them win a superbowl. Yeah I would still take the Packers secondary.

Even if you're right about the talent, and I'm not completely convinced of that outside of Luck, how can you guarantee that we will be in a position to draft one of them? That's my big worry.

I wonder how many times Dolphins fans have claimed that next year's QB class will be better, since Marino retired? How about Buffalo? Who was the Saints last franchise QB before Brees? How long have the 49ers been looking for the next Montana or Young? If it was as easy as "well we will get a QB next year" then everybody should get their guy within 3 years after losing their last franchise QB. Unfortunately though, it's not that easy because 31 other teams have a say in who is drafted and in what order, and there are usually only 1-2 QB's worth trading up for and there is always more than 1-2 teams that need a QB.

The rationale for why a corner has never been taken first in the draft is that they can be too easily schemed around and taken out of the game. If you overload the corner's side with an over and under route and send a running back in the flat, he can't cover everybody.

A DT is involved on every play and while you can double him, you are having to game plan for him all day. A corner isn't even involved on plays to the opposite side of the field.

I completely agree with you but this guy in my opinion is an absolute freak. He could be switched up to cover either the slot or wr.He could also be used like Woodson in GB which would keep him involved in more plays and blitzes. In addition he is a great punt and kickoff returner. What I like most is he is a ball hawk.He reminds me a bit of a physcial Deon Sanders. It is a bit of a stretch with the first pick but if it were me I would take him if our franchise qb does not emerge.
