It's almost 2012!!!! Machine domination!
Incidentally... I think this sucks, because some friends of mine use skype for free currently, and now that Microsoft has their grubby greedy palms on it, I'm sure there will be some BS charge to use the current technology.

Ever since the announcement has been made a LOT of "Conspiracy Theories" have been posted on the impact to users. However the one that I saw about "Skype Users Beware" was just laughable.
The idea is...... Now that Microsoft will be in-control of it they will allow the US to secretly control it for collection of information on users.
I'm sure the US government does not need Microsoft to "own" it to collect information or Intel on people, as I would think they could already do this....IMO

I'm hoping Microsoft doesn't charge for it. I'm actually excited for it because Microsoft is going to integrate Skype with Xbox Live so now I can skype using my Kinect which IMO is pretty cool.

Ballmer has said they won't start charging for it. They want to integrate it into their existing products. Overall I think people are going overboard with the freak outs, but given MS's past I don't really blame them. MS is changing, slowly but surely. I think they finally realize the tables are turning on them and they have to adjust. They actually recently checked in code to the linux kernel, which blew me away.
