Legalizing and decriminalizing are fine ideas until you step back into the real world and try to figure out how some poor farmer is going to keep a bunch of shiftless potheads from stealing buds at 3:30 in the morning. If you make growing the good stuff legal in the US, you'd got to make shooting a piece of poo who is crop stealing legal as well IMHO.

If it's grown in a field it's not worth smoking, or stealing, IMO.

once it's legalized and modern farming and fertilizing practices are used, field grown will beat "holler" grown by miles :D

Except I could smoke on one tomato sized bud for quite a while.

If anyone has ever had a garden you know it's not just plant and forget. Cannabis is a naturally invasive species - a weed. You don't have to plant and you don't have to maintain or care for it(again, quality is the major factor), just toss out some seeds. I could have enough to smoke all day everyday from an insanely small portion of my backyard.

I might concede that it wouldn't take too many resources to keep people from growing their own to keep it VERY profitable. But I'd be growing the hell out of it myself and I KNOW the mountains would be absolutely covered in a very short time(not like it isn't already ).

yea if you like schwag.

Exactly. It's not that much different than tobacco or tomatoes like cooking pointed out or whatever. People don't want to go through the trouble to grow it when they could more than likely get a finished product of higher quality at a store. And as long as there is competition, the prices would naturally be affordable enough that people would just rather buy an 8th at the market as opposed to growing it themselves.

Govt. grown, or govt regulated pot growth would result in massive economies of scale. Unless you're some hippie, you probably wouldn't be able to make an argument that it's better to grow yourself than to pick it up at the store. The cost savings wouldn't be that much, I'd assume, and the time commitment would be tedious.

Bottom line, how many people are bootlegging alcohol in today's society? Prohibition wasn't the answer with booze and it's not the answer with pot. Small time growers wouldn't be able to compete with large scale production. Less money going to organized crime, and more of it going to our government.

Lets protect our kids by throwing them in prison for smoking pot.

That's pure retardation. Anyone that just plants and forgets is going to end up with dirt pot, period.

Sorry I don't have extensive experience growing pot.

I was simply trying to make a point, I'm sure your advance hydroponics system would be much better.

This thread is just stupid now.

Stupid enough for you to post in.
