Ultimately I think it would be best to eliminate the entire rep system because people use it to spread hate messages which reflects poorly on the forum. If not disabling it for the entire board, users should be able to opt out. As the system currently is, people can say anything in the rep comments and it goes without moderation and the system can't be disabled.

I check my rep mostly to see if someone disagreed with me in a thread and if I should bother replying to them. Most of the time, though, it is hate comments left by cowards who don't even bother replying to the thread.

Here are some of the examples of the rep I receive on a weekly basis:

From ncmonzta: 'kill yourself'
From ccs: 'douche'

These are the worst of the most recent ones. It only shows the latest reputation received and I do recall worse. Someone mentioned that my mother should've had an abortion...

Not sure why any forum would want this type of platform for hatred to be enabled.

there is an opt out option...it's in the top right corner of each page...labelled 'log out'

lol ive never gotten hate poo through rep or any other way here and I have been here for a bit.

I would take that as a clue.

Try to remain neutral, mature while expressive and you should have no problems and might learn something as well. Just trying to help.

I find that only coming onto the huddle when I am NOT in a bad mood is the way to go .

Thanks salty. Now I know the rules. You can troll and derail threads all day. You can post all the racist bigotry you feel. You can say "fug that nigga" when referring to our qb. Just don't call the bigots "racist" or insult them in any way. Thanks for the clarity:)

Sylvianlight.. the guy who thinks Paterno has the right to keep a child rapist on his staff, but private remarks via rep really makes the forum look bad?

Even if he did know about it I wouldn't care. Since I believe in freedom and liberty I believe people should always have the choice to do nothing and should not be punished for exercising their basic human rights.
