Cops Disable Cameras, Rob Store, Caught by Owner; Had Backup Hard Drive
Philadelphia: After store owner Jose Duran was hauled off to jail in 2007 by narcotics officers looking for tiny ziplock bags known for use in packaging illicit drugs, they ended up looting his store, some of which he caught on a backup hard disk.
The video shows them cutting camera wires. Duran, who has no criminal record, claims they stole almost $10,000 and helped themselves to snacks and cigarettes after the last camera was cut. It backs eight other stores who have made similar complaints.
Cash being taken is normal in drug raids but only $785 of it was in the police report. Selling small bags, if a business "knows or should reasonably know" that drugs will be going into them, is illegal in Pennsylvania.
