I read about Rivera stating he is happy with our DTs and that we seem to have pretty good depth. So I started to look up some stats on our past few games. These games I believe are with Neblett and Kearse as our DTs with Shirley getting a lot of PT.

Week 16 Bucs: 59 yards rushing on 19 attempts 3.1 average
Week 15 Texans: 150 on 25 attempts 6 average
Week 14 Falcons: 86 on 28 attempts 3.07 average
Week 13 Bucs: 78 yards on 26 attempts 3 yard average
Week 12 Colts: 105 on 23 attempts 4.5 average

5 week total: 478 yards on 121 attempts 3.9 average

Now as we know we had 2 rookie DTs in the beginning of the season and rotated LBs for the first 1/2 of the season as well. We have finally had some continuity on the LB side the past few games and it shows with Senn really helping with the run D.

So my question is do we really need a DT or should we spend our draft picks on more impact positions DE, OLB, CB, S? Can we go cheap with our DT next year or do you think it is a "must" for our team?

TL;DR

Yes, Rivera's system is working right now but a punishing DT would make a world of difference.

I'd like a threat at the DT position but we've been doing a heck of a lot better at DT without Fua

Yes. Very much so.

Don't overlook the fact we played Indy, a slowed Turner who Atl is often abandoning for the pass, and a one dimensional Blount (if he is in, they run 95% of the time).

We need a DT on the Jenkins level. Someone with a nasty streak who can collapse the pocket and stop the run. Oh, but stay health of course!

I can live with 3.9 knowing we will have Edwards next year.I did not see alot to get excited about with Fua at this stage of his career.

I agree that would be ideal but we have very little money and many needs so I dont see it happening after drafting 2 in the 3rd round last year.

No, at least not in the first round, quite frankly I think we do better in FA then in the draft but that's just my opinion. I think we've done a decent job of stopping the run the last couple of games and are starting to get some pretty good pressure up front with the combination of Nebblett, Kearse and Big Shirley.

I never thought I would say this but I think we have more of a need at CB and OL at this point....Bell is going to get Cam killed.....

Cap space is made almost as easy as it is lost.
