Yes I know Philly's favored to get him, but I'd love to see the Panthers at least try to get him. Sean's OK but nothing special. Spags is one of the NFL's great defensive minds that could do with our defense (with a good draft and a FA or two) what Wade Phillips did in Houston, all while keeping a 4-3.

Great coordinators don't grow on trees. Let's see a push to see Steve come to Charlotte.

I heard Ron Rivera is a good DC too. Maybe we could get him to come to Carolina too....oh wait.......

We're a team on the rise that went from 2-14 to 6-10 or 7-9. The defense has been improving as of late even as they've had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for talent. I want as much continuity in the coaching staff as possible and I want them all to return next year no matter which coordinator becomes available.

Give McD another year. I think good things will happen.

Especially if we can find another freak (by NFL standards) athlete in a couple of years.

Our head coach was one of the best dcs in the league and he publically stated that he doesn't really focus on offense but on what he does best. So we don't need dc help.

Seans O K

How do you evaluate a New DC
On a New coaching staff
With No OTC
Several injuries and IR's
Starting Rookie DT's

Would be nice to see what
a full offseason of film
Healthy Players
OTC
Players that are now accustomed to the new skeems

Sean might be better than O K

pretty much.

you don't cut bait on a new coordinator bringing in a new scheme under these much less than ideal and normal circumstances.

give it a year or two. mcD was chosen for a reason...his defense is in line with what rivera has been doing or trying to do his whole coaching career.

mcD is running & will continue to run Rivera's defense, which has been hampered by injuries, youth & lack of off sesaon practice. chud is basically the head coach of the offense & mcd is the associate head coach of the defense at best

Bottomline McD ain't going no where. Spag. will not becoming here. End of story. Ron is sticking with the staff he has unless Chud becomes a HC in the offseason then we go after another OC. Anything beyond that. There will be no change in staff in the offseason.

If our defense was adequate we wouldn't be spending basically the entire draft on it which I have no doubt we will.

Keep Mcdermott, none of this grass is greener poo.
He's done a great job especially when his LB corp is 2nd tier at best.
The D Line and the production he's gotten out of them especially once we stopped trying to force feed 2 rook DTs into service for the sake of experience has been good as well.
Gamble is doing his thing, using his talents to advantage, Captain just is not starter quality talent.
Healthy LBs, (Beason), more experience on the D line and an upgrade in the secondary and McDermott will have this defense kicking ass next year.

I think injuries was the main reason the defense has been horrid this year, not bad coaching/scheme.
So no to Spagnuolo.

most eagle observers will agree that McD is a good teacher & has a good grasp on defensive principles. he is known for coming up with good gamplans but most felt alot of his schemes were to complex for his talent.
