I'm not sure what they're reasons for releasing him are. I wouldn't mind signing him though.

2011 Contract Extension

On August 5, 2011- Stanford Routt made history by becoming the NFL's third highest paid cornerback behind Eagles Nnamdi Asomugha and Jets Darrelle Revis. Routt restructured his three-year, $31.5 million contract to 5yr/54.5 Million. With the Raiders over the salary cap, Routt reallocated the majority of his $10 million 2011 base salary into a roster bonus. As payback, the Raiders added two years to his deal and bumped its total value to an incredible $54.5 million. According to Forbes, Routt is now the 15th highest paid player in the NFL.

They reported it a few minutes ago. Maybe they got some false information so that may be my fault for jumping the gun too soon.

Dude was being paid like a #1 CB when he is really a #2/3. Raiders are wayyyyyyy over the cap so this doesn't surprise me at all. Seymour is probably next, followed by Kamerion Wimbley.

Nah it did happen, it's on the Raiders twitter also.

OAKLAND RAIDERS @RAIDERS

The Raiders have released cornerback Stanford Routt.

This guy was the starting CB for them I think.

He was also one of the highest penalized players though. With a little discipline he could be a good player.
