do you have a link to show the average height/weight of starting 4-3 NFL DEs or were you just pulling numbers out of your ass?

And before you say ChaCha isn't a real link those guys research the topic before they post the answer so the information is facts not opinions.

Hopefully the pick is either Curry or Glenn... both could come in and start right away and that's got to be what we're looking for right now.

says the average weight is between 250 and 290

that's not a real average, it looks like a guesstimate. a true average (adding up totals and dividing) would give you an exact number

and are they counting 3-4 DEs or 3-4 rush backers? are they counting guys at the end of the bench that are terrible and never play?

not very useful TBH

I like a lot of the talent left on the board and having the 8th spot tonight means we get to choose a good one. Based on how the draft went, I think it was good for us that we lost the coin toss. 8/9 didn't really matter based on how it panned out last night but tonight we get 40 instead of 42.

Switch out average for "ideal" (4-3 DE btw)

ideal height for a DE is 6'4 - 6'6

ideal weight for a DE is 270 - 280

better?

Worthy and Still are not likely better than Fua it McClain.

Both in my mind are def better. But the prob is we get back Edwards and McClain has some promise.

We have no depth at DE.

Vinny Curry seems like the best combination of talent / value / need

Curry
Jenkins
Worthy

Any of those three guys will make this defense better.

You're not going to get a guy with ideal production AND ideal measurables in the 2cd round at a premium position like DE. Those guys go in the 1st round, usually very high in the 1st round.

Every team has a ton of guys with 1st round grades available in the 2ND round.

DE's?!?!?

That is one of the most valued positions in the NFL.

First round grade DE's go in the 1st.

A DE with the measurables and production is gonna go in the 1st every time! Only way ur getting a 1st round DE later is with injury concerns.

I believe the height is an accurate average but I am almost certain that for the weight they took one of the ligher defensive ends and one of the heavier defensive ends and just expected the individual/reader who asked the question to average the two.

If you want to compare him to the defensive ends on the roster... he is taller than Charles Johnson and Eric Norwood and the same size Antwan Applewhite, Thomas Keiser, and Jyles Tucker. He is also heavier than Norwood, Applewhite, Keiser, and Tucker. Take that for what it's worth but his size really isn't a question so if that's something you are worried about I'd be curious to know why.
