Spartanburg is located in the “upstate” portion of South Carolina, south of the Appalachian Mountains. Although a hot and humid climate, Spartanburg’s 807 foot elevation helps it escape the oppressively high heat and humidity along the coastal plains region of South Carolina.

However, Spartanburg’s elevation does not save it from high temperature extremes as the upper 90s occasionally visit this portion of the south. I played soccer in High School in the CLT area and some intramurals in Boone. The weather has to be really effing bad to care as a player. As a fan there's no doubt Spartanburg can be miserable.
